sokratis Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 (edited) Hi all, Having spoken with someone involved with the music side of academia recently, I was surprised to learn that the practice of paying experts for help or advice with an application, or feedback on some kind of piece of work, is a common practice amongst applicants to competitive programmes. Is this an accepted practice within philosophy, or is it frowned upon? If the latter, how would one be best advised to go about acquiring professional feedback if one is not currently enrolled in any academic programme? Thanks for the help. I don't know for sure, but I've never heard of this practice within philosophy. Sounds like the kind of thing upon which philosophers would frown... 711fanatic Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 Yeah, I've never heard of this. A prof will either have the time and willingness to help you, or will not & will tell you so. If they do help you, an appreciative e-mail is all that is expected. Likely, they'd be uncomfortable with anything more Tables_And_Chairs, platonetsocrate, The_Last_Thylacine and 1 other 4
