psychology_student Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 Hello everyone, I'm willing to apply for a Ph.d in clinical psychology, which would focus on research. by now Im in the search of clinical psychology professors who address multicultural issues - how culture affects psychopathology or treatment accessibility.. There's a chance anyone is familiar with someone who does that kind of research? Thanks!
Mickey26 Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 I'm aware of a few profs in Canada. If you're interested in knowing, let me know!
SocDevMum Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 You may want to look for programs that focus on health disparities - UNC Greensboro has several profs who research health disparities, cultural influences, etc, for example. Otherwise, I would strongly suggest you go to the literature, and see who is writing about the topics you are interested in, and then track back to their university and see if they are taking students. Good luck! PsyDuck90 1
PsychPhdBound Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 Do a literature search/review on Google Scholar for the topics you're interested in and then see what departments the authors are in. That's how I identified the PI's I wanted to work with. Good luck!
PokePsych Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 Be mindful of whether you really want to study clinical psych and what to be practitioner, or whether you want to do research on cultural differences in health/pain disparities - the latter is commonly found in social psych department (but wouldn't allow you to be a practtioner).
