Proofquant Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 From physical sciences, still have not heard back either! noac and shivermetimbers 2
statsforthis Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Ok, great to hear from you all. For what it's worth, I thought it made sense to split the application review over two separate weeks because I imagine the logistics of coordinating it for the first time over one would be difficult. noac and shivermetimbers 2
comic203 Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 also from physical sciences and have not heard anything! statsforthis, noac and shivermetimbers 3
shivermetimbers Posted January 26, 2021 Posted January 26, 2021 5 hours ago, statsforthis said: I'm right there with you two. Since there seem to be about five of us from Physical Sciences and Biological Sciences who haven't heard back, and there seems to be a 1/3 chance or better for each person to be accepted, it would make sense that if none of us have heard back, that it is likely that physical and biological sciences have not heard back. There is a slim chance that we were all rejected and they're waiting to send the rejections until after the 26th but again, it's slim. So my fingers are crossed! I'm wondering if they will release results on Thursday again. Damn I didn't even consider that they might release the next batch of scholars on Thursday, but now that you said it I'm thinking Thursday makes more sense than tmr or something... idk how I'll make it until then tho ? noac 1
shivermetimbers Posted January 26, 2021 Posted January 26, 2021 I'm gonna say wed: 30% thur: 55% fri: 15% when do you guys think the next batch will be sent out? noac 1

I'm hoping that it'll be tomorrow but I feel like it'll be Thursday. Finalist notifications came out on a Thursday, and Arts + Social Sciences panels released their decisions on a Thursday. It seems like the Gates Foundation really likes releasing news on Thursdays... shivermetimbers and noac 2

Agreed! For my own sanity I’m betting 100% on Thursday. Did we also get our finalist news on Thursday?

peterpan1127 Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Hey! I’m new here; also a finalist. I applied for arts (MPhil not PhD) and haven’t heard a rejection. Are rejections usually sent out this late? Or could I be on some wait list? Best wishes to everyone who hasn’t heard anything yet.
Imggrl_TR Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 (edited) From Biological Sciences - just got the preliminary offer email this morning (US time)! Edit/Update: My application status is still “Submitted” lol so apparently that’s not necessarily indicative of scholarship status Edited January 27, 2021 by Imggrl_TR comic203, Alpha_orionis, shivermetimbers and 2 others 5
cheshire Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Has anyone outside US heard from them? I know they send emails to shortlisted candidates in February generally. But this is just anxiety speaking (or typing..)
statsforthis Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 1) Imggrl_TR, when is the deadline to reply by? 2) Anyone from Physical Sciences heard back? shivermetimbers 1
