For the best. I do not blame anyone for reaching out to get any extra info (though I'd not be to obnoxious). It just seemed that the advisors either have to be tight-lipped about information or maybe they don't all hear back at the same time?

too scared to ask incase it ends up being a no ?

The advisors are not the ones to decide?

I was told during the interview that once they narrow down the pile they send them to the different tracks (SHIPS, RILES, LDT, CTE, etc.) for those advisors to look through the students who selected them. I believe if you mention a POI they might reach out for an interview. After they pick their top choices they come back and have to narrow the group down again and then it goes to the dean's office so they can make final selections and make a cohort. I was told creating a cohesive cohort is also an essential part of the process.

@jk25 you got interviewed at SGSE, right?

It has been a bad day for me. I got an offer of 1/3rd scholarship from 1 university. If I take that up, I will basically have to work full time and then some to fund my PhD. Ha ha ha!

No, I was only in touch with a few via e-mail. I'm not sure if an unfunded PhD makes sense though. It just seems so unmanageable to work full time and really be dedicated to your research.

@flowerpower07 can I ask what you applied for?

CTE, focus in Science Education.

@jk25 this is the first I've heard from anyone.  I have two schools I've heard nothing from and an interview for one school next weekend. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone is much behind on their timeline.

Exactly! I can’t accept this offer because I will be driven insane!

Just got this from one of my three POIs that I contacted:

"Dear XXXX:

You should be hearing from our colleagues in GSE Admissions very soon.

Best regards,
XXXXXXXX"

Bless you for getting this information for us. You're saving me the last bit of sanity that I can spare.

But what does "very soon" mean. For anxious folk like us, is it today, tomorrow, next week, beginning of March? ?

I realize you're not happy with the offer, but for what it's worth...congrats on the offer anyway!!

And did you not then reply, "Choose me, me, ME!!!" ?

I just wrote to my PoI I had no contact with! This is so absolutely sad and crazy! Just tell me so that I can cry myself to sleep.

At this stage, you've got nothing to lose :)
Surely they understand. Lol
