butterflies Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 (edited) I was notified that I'm an "alternate". Does anyone know what are the chances of getting the grant as an alternate? Edited April 12, 2021 by butterflies

Does anyone know what are the chances of getting the grant as an alternate? It depends I think on how many alternates they nominate altogether and how high are you in the ranking of alternates (I'm sure they have a ranking). My award letter reads that I have to accept or decline the award by April 19th, and so I think all alternates will hear from SSRC a couple of days after April 19th. Considering that IDRF fellowship winners are announced rather late -- after the announcements had been made for majority of similar diss research grants, I'd assume that a bunch of people who got another large grant (the rules stipulate one can't hold two large grants simultaneously), would decline the IDRF award, as they already accepted another one. Best of luck to you, fingers crossed! Edited April 12, 2021 by zkasim2 butterflies 1
