Hello all

I have applied to these programs in 1 December, 2021 and still no news. (no interview)

CMB - UC Irvine

BSTP - CWRU

BioMolecular Science - Michigan State University

Microbiology and Immunology - Drexel University

Any one heard back? Should I consider them as rejections? Its been 3 months since the deadline...?

Question for anyone who has been accepted into WashU's DBBS program under any track:

If you are going to their recruitment weekend, what date is it being held? I'm trying to determine if each track is having its own recruitment weekend or if they will combine all or some of the tracks into multiple single weekends.

I got waitlisted from BSTP- CWRU. They said this in interview invitation

"Additional remote interviews will occur in January during the weeks of Jan 3, Jan 10, Jan 17, Jan 24, Jan 31 and Feb  7. Our goal is to remotely interview another 65-70 applicants during these 6 weeks."

I received an email from BCM 2 days ago informing me that my application has been transfered from Cancer& Cell Biology to Genetics& Genomic. I dont know if they are still sending out interview invitation. Do you have any more information? Thank you

I'm not sure if BCM are still doing interviews or not, I interviewed early in January. I would assume so if they are transferring your application but again not sure. I had a really great experience interviewing there!

I also haven't heard anything back from OHSU PBMS. I interviewed last week.

Did anyone else that interviewed with Temple get this message? The man that sent it was not involved in the interview day, and the suspense of knowing whether or not this means I was accepted is killing me! I'm stuck on that last sentence...

"Dear [my name],

I’m very pleased to have learned of your recent interview for the Biomedical Sciences doctoral program.  Our graduate students are essential and productive members in our research program here at the medical school.  As students you’ll have the opportunity to complete rotations at both the Fox Chase Cancer Center and LKSOM before selecting your thesis advisor. We offer an outstanding training opportunity. Our researchers are well funded robust direct costs of extramural funding. There is a low student to faculty ratio resulting in effective mentoring and we have four active T-32 training grants.

Personally,  I can share that my graduates are successful in academia, industry, and scientific communications. They were very productive with numerous highly cited publications, presentations at national meeting and predoctoral fellowships from both the NIH and The American Heart Association. They are not unique in fact quite typical for our graduates.

I hope you enjoyed learning about the Biomedical Sciences program and meeting with students and faculty. I look forward to meeting you at orientation in August.

I still haven't heard from UT Austin ILS after interviewing the first week of February, but have seen people get accepted already on the results page... has anyone on here heard back from them or is still waiting and know if they're done with offers??

I was told that there is another interview round coming up (my guess is today/ tomorrow or next weekend) for 19 applicants, which means the invites have been sent out for the round. This is G&G track. This might be their last round of interviews since their target size is 15 students and their program coordinator recently sent an email saying “incoming class is coming together nicely”; I guess some students might have accepted the offer already

this is just my interpretation, ofc!

Emails went out for Princeton MolBio and I was accepted!! I'm coming direct from undergrad with no publications, and I thought my profile was too weak to compete at top programs, so this process has been very shocking. They are holding an admitted student visit from March 20-22.

I assume from your excitement that Princeton is offer that you will accept?

Has anyone heard back from NYU Vilcek yet?

My interview is on 4th March at Immunology track so I guess it is not so fast for them to make the decision? It seems that Vicek holds interview seperately. Could I ask what is your interested track?

I finally heard back from all the places I applied to/ interviewed at. I mostly applied for Microbiology programs and want to pursue host-pathogen interactions. I am having hard time deciding between the following schools and would really appreciate everyone's views.

Cornell (Ithaca) Microbiology, Emory (MMG), UW Madison (MDTP), UVA BIMS (MIC cluster), Vanderbilt (IGP)

I thought interviews and visits would make things easier but I tend to like people and places a lot, and hence can't decide. Where would you guys choose and why?

Which interview weekend did you attend at UW-Madison? We've probably met. I'm making another trip there to view their Biochemistry labs for the IPiB program. After that, I will visit WashU's campus. Then, I'll make a decision. Right now, I'm in the same boat as you. These are some very tough choices. I keep reminding myself that this is a good problem o have.

Congratulations! I attended the Jan 24-25 interview and visited on Feb 17-18. I constantly keep reminding myself the same but choosing among these seem like the toughest decision I need to make :(.

Then Yes, we did meet. I also attended the Feb 17-18 recruitment visit!!! How did you like the trip?

Personally, I enjoyed it. It was a nice breath of fresh air. I like the laid-back culture, the city, and the campus. Even though I had a great time with everyone and they all seem like fantastic people, the lacking of diversity is very concerning to me. My final decision will come when I visit the campus at WashU later this month. I was accepted into WashU and though they do seem to have a more diverse campus and a warmer climate, the program seems more intimidating - I was basically given the 3rd degree by one of my interviewers during the virtual interviews. But the students seemed very nice and welcoming. They seemed like they enjoyed being there. UW-Madison is conducting research I am most interested conducting. But WashU's program is more prestigious and they are doing top-tier world-class research in the field that I am interested in. I just need to visit the campus to see how well I can deal with the atmosphere there.

Wow, its good to know that we have met :). Honestly, I enjoyed the visit very much, and found everyone very warm and welcoming. The research aligns perfectly with my interest and that is what led me to apply in the first place. I am very much interested in two faculty's work and luckily I got to meet them both there, I found both of them very nice (so nice that they personally emailed me after the visit). I agree with you on the lack of diversity. Although they seem to have been trying a lot, the program and school seems less diverse. Apart from that, my only concern is the cold climate there, given I have options for schools located in much warmer areas.

Please do keep me posted about your decision. Who knows, we might be in same cohort in UW Madison :).

Update! I got an email from them yesterday that I had been accepted, and that I needed to respond by March 20th so they could send offers to those on the waitlist. Hope this helps!
