I'm not sure about the competitiveness of the program, but that's great that you have multiple options to consider. I think two of my buddies went to Hebrew University, but I always mix it up with Jerusalem University, and can never remember which. But they both studied in Israel (independently of one another).

An-yong!

Thank you for your reply and your Korean greeting is good. : )

Anyway, if I go to Israel, I might see your friends. ^^

I think studying in Hebrew Univ. has the competitveness in Ancient Near East Language.

Of course, it depends on my effort.

Just found out that my paper has been accepted at a Medieval Studies Conference, too bad it's too late to put on my application and I would just feel lame trying to tell them about it. Also, has anyone gotten the courage to attempt to clarify what "Mid-March" means with respect to YDS, HDS, and Union? In December mid-March was fine, but now that we're about to enter March, I guess I want a more specific date.

Last year the HDS results came out on the 12th. I was expecting them for the 15th, which was a Monday. They came out late Friday afternoon instead.

Bummer about not being able to add it after-the-fact, but congrats on the conference. I think YDS explicitly said they would notify people on March 15th, and financial packages may or may not be confirmed by then. With the extended YDS application deadline, it may extend our feedback date, as well.

Would it really be lame? My director advised me to send an "informal note" to the DGS at schools from which I was awaiting replies when I found out that I had received a competitive summer language scholarship, since I had only been able to mention in my personal statement that I was applying for it.

YDS says on their website the 15th, but last year they released them a couple days earlier online, I remember.

Sweeeeeeeeet. I wonder: Will they email applicants to let them know the results are online (early), or do we just keep checking back?

How would I go about sending it? Email? Mail? And how should I word it? "Writing to inform you that...."?

I doubt it. It'll most likely be a check as often as possible during that week, with some daring adventurers checking well before (me). If you applied to Candler, think about how OPUS worked.

From YDS via Email:

We are moving into our final week of admissions committee; followed by a week of what I call “wrap up” work and then finally coming soon to a mailbox and inbox near you—decision letters. If you haven’t already marked your calendar the magic date is March 15, 2011. I will be in touch prior to actually releasing decisions online to let you know when you can log into the system to access the decision.

Ha! I was just going to post that as well :).

I just got accepted at my backup school today: Calvin Theological Seminary. I'm not particularly ecstatic about it, but it's close to family. I don't know funding yet, but I was invited to apply to their "Presidential Scholarship," which I guess is nice, so we'll see.

Duke Div said they would know scholarship info this week, so if anyone hears anything, be sure and post :D.

Also, for YDS, the email made it seem like the online status check would be on the same day as the letters' date - March 15th. However, they could finish earlier I suppose...If they're mailing on Monday, surely they've completed all their decisions on Friday...

I'm "expecting" HDS decision by the 15th, but I'm also making sure I have planned the Thursday and Friday before that, because the HDS decisions have come out the Thursday/Friday before the 15th in several recent years. By planned, I mean, I know where I'm gonna be and I'll have support people like my sweetie available, for commiseration or celebration. :-)

Last year YDS sent out an email and released the decisions the Friday before online. I'm sure there is a good chance they will do the same this year....hopefully?

This year, they extended the application date by 3 days to January 18th rather than January 15th, due to the Snowmageddon storm. So, that may not be in our favor for early results. But at least they reaffirmed March 15th as a deadline, rather than extending that a few days as well.

crossing my fingers I get fully funded at BU. if I was invited to Leadership Candler, I'm wondering if my application is competitive enough to receive full funding at BU too?

Anyone else freaking out!? *sigh. I just want to know RIGHT NOW! I am eagerly awaiting answers from Chicago, BU, and Indiana. What about you guys? Who do you hope to hear from next?

I'm waiting to hear back (this week) on funding from Duke Div (already accepted). I won't hear from Yale until March 15th, and Princeton until who-knows-when.

I would be freaking out more, but it's only MA-level, not PhD, so it's not as psycho-competitive. PhD is when we'll be freaking out: 300+ applicants with only 5-6 acceptances ;).

Good point however if I don't get into a strong MA program (with some type of funding) I will be REALLY stressing out when I am trying to get into PhD programs :)

I hope you get the funding you need for Duke!

i hope those that applied to HDS, YDS, and Union get in!

Me too, considering that's where all my applications that haven't been decided are at...Anyone know anything beyond the one MDiv post on the results page for Union? I'd say a March 15th expectation isn't unreasonable.

Thanks! Yeah, I know what you mean -- my backup school isn't a strong one (Calvin Seminary, Grand Rapids), so it will be tough getting into a good PhD program. Although I know a guy who did his PhD at Princeton Seminary after an MTS at Calvin, so that'd be good enough for me.

LibTheologian, interesting that there's a result from Union on the Result page, but not any other feedback. Hope all goes well for the rest of your guys' applications out there!

Got accepted to Boston College's MTS program today by (overnighted not-so-snail) mail. Hurray!

Any other MTS-ers still waiting on BU and Notre Dame?
