ecnerwalc Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Are there any other chemical engineering PhD applicants? I was accepted at Northwestern and Texas so far, visiting at the end of Feb. Has anyone heard ANYTHING about decisions from any other schools either from friends, professors, etc?
sydney146 Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 I'll be visiting Texas as well- see you there. I haven't heard back from anywhere else. Still waiting. Then again, the deadlines for my applications was only four days ago, so I can't complain yet.
yoshimoshi Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Anyone applied to Ohio State? Lets keep in touch :- o)
ChemEWaiting Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 I'm waiting on all of my schools, none of them have anything in the database yet :-( It sucks that we may be almost the last to hear
firefly luciferase Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I applied to CU Boulder in early December. The silence is driving me nuts - so much for having a rolling deadline!
theflash7269 Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I applied to Boulder as well, was hoping that would be an early decision as I had all my stuff in mid-November
gakgx6 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I applied to Texas and Northwestern and still haven't heard back. Maybe because I applied late-just before the deadline. So far I got admitted to Vanderbilt. When did you apply? Do you mind sharing your stats?
ecnerwalc Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 I applied to Texas and Northwestern and still haven't heard back. Maybe because I applied late-just before the deadline. So far I got admitted to Vanderbilt. When did you apply? Do you mind sharing your stats? I applied really early. I think I submitted both in November but the rec letters were submitted in late december. My stats are fairly average, actually: GPA: 3.7, 800Q, 630 V, 5 W, no publications, three years of research+ summers. One thing is, I've been out of school for two years working for non-profit not related to science and engineering. I did apply two years ago and were admitted to these two schools. I expressed interest in attending (but after working for two years) and they kept their word on re-admitting me. as far as the other schools, I may not be so lucky (no others are reapplication).
gakgx6 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Thanks I have similar stats but pretty bad AW-3. Hopefully that won't hurt my chances.
koirbiku Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Nice to see a Chem E group. I've been waiting for Northwestern too. What other schools are you guys waiting on?
yoshimoshi Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 hmm, i guess no one else applied to Ohio State? Nice to see a Chem E group. I've been waiting for Northwestern too. What other schools are you guys waiting on?
synbio Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I applied to Northwestern as well. Submitted the application with all supplemental materials in early December, but have yet to hear anything. Do they hold phone interviews? Or are you directly admitted to the program?
gakgx6 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I am almost certain there are no interviews for the Chem E. However, I don't know if that's the case for Bioengineering.
theflash7269 Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 just got an acceptance to Boulder! so relieved to get a positive response
firefly luciferase Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Speak of the devil, just got my Boulder acceptance. Woot!
koirbiku Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Any more news for the Chem E Applicants? I'm starting to get really anxious now. Please share your experience if you have applied to Stanford, UIUC, Northwestern, Purdue, Washington University or Colorado State. Hope its not getting to the point when the offers are mostly gone.
mellmer Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 accepted to UW-Mad, Delaware, UIUC, UPenn. Denied from Princeton. Anyone hear from NW or UCLA yet?
koirbiku Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Melms , do you mind sharing when you applied to and heard back from UIUC? Any more news for the Chem E Applicants? I'm starting to get really anxious now. Please share your experience if you have applied to Stanford, UIUC, Northwestern, Purdue, Washington University or Colorado State. Hope its not getting to the point when the offers are mostly gone.
mellmer Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 I applied Dec. 25th and heard back by e-mail on Jan. 21st. Touring March 18-19.
sydney146 Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 (edited) I heard back from UIUC only a few days ago- I'm visiting on March 4. Not all their acceptances went out at once. Edited February 3, 2011 by sydney146
koirbiku Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Thanks for the responses.I applied Jan1 but received an email from the secretary saying my one of my letter or rec was still missing( I had one letter emailed to her directly but apparently she forgot about it). I was scared if they were done sending all the invites. What other schools are you guys waiting on?

mellmer Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Anyone have any opinions on UW-Madison vs. UCSB?
koirbiku Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 mellmer, I'd personally prefer UW-Madison but I dont know much about either programs. Did you hear from NW too?
