I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!! You said you visited Rutgers, do you mind giving my your impression of the studios/facilities please, there's no way I can afford to check it out, but I want to know what its like there.

Yayyyyy!!!!! I'm just happy to not be flat out rejected...even if I am rejected in the end, then at the very least they considered me instead of doing it straight up. I guess that counts for something, at least in my head. Plus I still have some hope. Thanks for that info.

I know that Rutgers has around 35 MFA students...and they are all different disciplines rather than a specific number for painting, sculpture, etc.

Some of the studio spaces are massive with very high ceilings.

Overall the studios were great...but many had no windows. The big ones were just really really big. They told me that first year students can choose to stay in their studios, or switch to a new one their second year. Some were smaller than others, and the students said they suspected that they were given larger studio sizes based on merit. (I'm pretty sure that was just a rumor though).

Not all of the studios were massive, so you are not guarenteed a big one. The small ones weren't bad though.

And facilities....very nice gallery, and I saw the woodshop which had plenty of stuff although I don't use that much anyways because I only build stretcher bars. I'm trying to remember everything else I saw...I think that was about it. I think I may have seen the printmaking area but I saw so many schools they are blending in my mind.

I applied to USC and CalArts for Fall 2011 MFA. I was accepted to Art Center for Fall of 2010 but decided not to go because I didn't know much about the school. I have not heard anything yet from either USC or CalArts. I know someone on here said that all the interview notifications for CalArts have already been sent out, however, I'm wondering how you know that?

Just got home from work, and found the letter of rejection from CMU. I wasn't surprised, because I had seen "eliminated 2011" in my slideroom, but it still stings....

I got accepted at WashU, and I'm flying there tomorrow for an open house. No word on funding yet, though.

where in slideroom did it indicate anything, I cant find anything in mine and am wondering?!

for columbia?

2 weeks ago a bunch of us had a slideroom status of "2011 Painting Rj's" for about a week. they changed them back to "2011 Painting."

another poster called the admissions office and they sorta confided that we weren't supposed to see that and that Rj's meant rejections.

would have felt better with a "2011 Painting Regretfully Denied" status but if i were part of the admissions staff and going through hundreds of peoples work i'd go bonkers, first...and find the easiest way to sort out the regretfully denied(s). can't blame em.

so, it tis what it is.

UC San Diego- Woke up to rejection email this morning (March 1).

Does anyone have any kind of idea what kind of funding there is available for Columbia College Chicago? I interviewed with them last night via phone (found out about interview Thursday). They are kinda perfect for my work and I love the school, but am paranoid they don't offer too much funding. Thanks!

I told my friend yesterday that every day when I wake up I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning, and if I get bad news or no news at all it feels like Santa didn't bring be the gift I asked for. Here is to hoping that today he gets it right!!!!!!!!!

I have now been rejected again! From UCSD. So far three official rejections (Bard, CalArts, UCSD), one assumed (UCSB), so things don't seem too positive. Oh well, life goes on. Thank you to all the posters here for all this mutual support, it really helps!

How cute do yall think we should dress up for interviews? I dont plan on wearing a suit. I don't plan on being fixed-gear bandanna art fagged out either But I do plan on sportin some fresh dunks. Im thinking just looking slightly fresher than normal. I donno. Haircut, shave, shower.

If I ever get a god dammed interview I'm going to dress like a slut on the bottom and a prude on top. Or the other way around. Whatever's more effective.

And a horse mask.

No artists wears a suit on a normal occasion, I think its perfectly acceptable tot be clean, ironed, and without paint/etc. on you. They dont expect us to dress up too much I wouldnt imagine.
