I'm not sure if I'm now enlightened or full on degenerate but i made a python script that automatically pulls the draft sheet every 5 minutes and plays a big cow moo if any new lines have been added.

at least now i can work without manually refreshing the sheet every minute?

this just went off and scared me during a work meeting 😅

Oregon fiction responses going out!

(Grats hideonbush if you're here!!!)

Anybody know how many Oregon State takes per genre?

I was waitlisted by them last year and that email said four were offered admission for fiction. I'm pretty sure it's four for every genre.

anyone else reach the level of insanity that includes checking application portals?

Yes. Speaking of, my northwestern portal when I click into checklist says it’s still awaiting materials even though I completed everything and it says application submitted on the main page. Anyone else?

Same for me...praying that's a glitch on their side because, if anything, I *oversubmitted* documents lol

It’s okay. Check your emails from December or whenever you submitted your app to NW. You should have received an email that your application was complete and to disregard the “Material Needed” status. If you have that email, you’re good.

In related news, I’m really shocked that Northwestern hasn’t sent out rejections yet. If that poetry acceptance is accurate, which I assume it is, I would have thought they would come out yesterday or today. Here’s to another day of waiting 😭

As long as you received an email from northwestern's grad program coordinator, you should be fine even if your portal says "materials needed"!! at least, that's what the email said

I got my first notification of making it to interviews for fiction at SAIC! Anyone who's been through this before-- What do interviews look like, what should I expect or prepare for? I'll take any and all tips haha. Good luck to everyone these next few weeks of waiting!

I will have mine for the Low Res MFA at SAIC - Let me know if you hear about anything specific!

hi guys been lurking here for a while and thought id finally give in and make an account esp since results shld be coming relatively soon ! i'm an international student (from the uk) who graduated uni in 2024 applying for fiction; ik applying for mfas is always a long shot (esp right out of undergrad) but thought i'd give it a go anyway.

i applied exclusively to fullyfunded places all across the states: cornell, both texas at austin programs, wustl (inc mcdonnell fellowship), vandy, uc san diego, iowa writers' workshop (of course), brown, johns hopkins, u of miami, u of florida, u of michigan (helen zell), u of virginia, nyu (only one w/out guaranteed funding ik but pleaseeee), both rutgers programs (newark and camden), syracuse, and notre dame.

so 18 total lol. i'm hopeful but not optimistic; my favs are probably (no particular order) cornell, san diego, iowa, brown, jhu, nyu, rutgers, and syracuse but obv i'd be chuffed to be accepted anywhere. we shall see. good luck all ! based on the draft 2024 spreadsheet it looks like fiction applicants might hear from johns hopkins and/or wustl this week / early next week?

side note: did anybody else get an email from u of miami a few days ago about two factor authentication? the subject title nearly made me shit myself lol

I applied to most of these too, but in poetry! Good luck to us both, hope we hear back sooner rather than later.
