I'm pretty sure I submitted to committee 5, but I can't seem to find the code on my "preview" PDF application or CV... In terms of content and methodology, my proposal fit more neatly into committee 3, but I know committee 5 was a better fit in terms of supervision. spencechar Posted February 12 Posted February 12 It seems like the only NSERC folks who've received notice were those who applied for an international location of tenure (according to reddit posts, at least). An NSERC officer told one of the commenters on that thread that all results are expected to be sent out by end of day today. bluetopaz, topti and Hustler 3

On the second page of the offer letter it just says send an email to them with your decision to accept or reject. Nothing about location of tenure. My first institution is international when I applied. It’s not in the terms and conditions right? And yes I received the results today.

Based on what we're seeing, we still need our own SSHRC thread. Were the NSERC results not also meant to be out on March 31st? But because the agencies are separate they could have very different dates by which they finish the evaluations. But, you're right that we did submit first!!! This is my first time applying so I feel especially stressed.

This is my first time applying so I feel especially stressed. It's my first time applying for postdoc funding as well - it would change my life in such a positive way so I'm really hoping to get it. I am also trying to stay grounded and realistic as I know it's subjective and funding is limited. It might sound strange but I was bracing for the end of February at the earliest so I'm okay with waiting a bit longer for results as much as I'd like to know. I need to emotionally prepare myself.

I was not expecting them yet either, but the possibility that it could be earlier has really stressed me out! Life changing for me too, and I worked so hard on the application! Since then, though, I’ve landed a tenure-track position at a mid- to lower-tier institution. Now I’m wondering how seriously I should weigh my options if I do receive the SSHRC postdoc, or whether I should just hold onto the tenure-track job, given that those are often seen as the golden ticket. One thing I’ve been thinking about is whether having held a postdoc might make it easier to secure future SSHRC grant funding as a faculty member. I’m also wondering whether it would be strategically worthwhile to leave my current position and take up the postdoc at a top-tier university, with the hope of later landing a tenure-track job at a more research-intensive institution.

I was wondering if anyone knew how flexible SSHRC was when it comes to holding the fellowship part-time. How long can you stretch the fellowship, how many hours of research are expected as a minimum?

I'd ask any mentors you have to find out what their thoughts are. It may also depend on your area of study. If I were you, I'd keep the tenure track position since you already have that as a place to build from. That said, I work in K-12 education quite happily as a teacher with limited ability to move for personal reasons, so I have kept my day job. I am REALLY excited about the prospect of taking a leave and doing postdoctoral research for two years. It sounds like heaven to me to have that much time to focus on research, writing, and networking as I worked full time throughout my doctoral studies. I think it also depends on the level of risk you are willing to adopt in being where you really want to be. If you're excited about the potential of the postdoc opportunity, it could be worth it, but most people I've talked to in academia seem to think the wise move is to keep a tenure track position, as they are rare these days. Again, it depends on your situation and specific field.

I think that's a question for SSHRC and your proposed institution. As far as I know, they do not monitor hours closely and there's simply an expectation that you work on the proposed research project in a timely manner that reflects full time research. I believe I read that a report is required once a year to report progress or something like that. Curious what the answers to these questions are though.
