congrats to you as well good sir :P

i looked all around the links on the acceptance email and I didnt see a date on which we had to make a decision. the email also mentions that a current MAIR student would be in contact with us in a couple of weeks so I was just going to ask them when the decision deadline is.

for any international students who cant visit Syracuse, ill be visiting Maxwell on the admitted student tour on april 3rd and will report back here with pix and a synopsis of what my impression of the place was.

That would be Ma'am :)

And yes, please report back here. I'm also an international student and can't visit. I'd like to know EVERYTHING!

Also, I emailed Maxwell to ask by when we have to decide. Haven't heard from them yet.

WakeMeUpB4UGoGo & av260987,

Were your decisions sent by mail or through email? Oh, and congratulations to you both!!

Through email. More formal letter will be sent in a week or two.

@av260987 - i got the same email from Maxwell about a month ago. then sometime last week i got another email from the graduate school itself that they will only be able to send me the official offer of admission only after i have provided them with evidence of ability to fund my first year studies (USD60K+).

and we all know funding decision will only come in after mid march. so if you are also hoping for funding to attend then maybe you should expect a similar email.

Oh! Thanks for the heads up. I had to provide proof of finances for some schools but when I asked Maxwell while applying, they said it's not required at the moment.  I'll email and check about this. Also, they still haven't responded to my email about the deadline for making a decision about the offer. Have you heard anything?

No, I have not. I suppose that information will be contained in the official offer of admission.

my bad! :P  did everyone else accepted into maxwell get the email requesting proof of funding? i didnt recieve it but i also mentioned in my application that i would require no funding from the school (GI bill + i have been saving meticulously for 3 1/2 years loool). i havent heard anything from anyone since the initial acceptance email and the anticipation is gnawing at me!

I think that only applies to international applicants.

If that's the case, then I should start worrying. Because since I heard about being accepted via email 10 days ago, I haven't heard from them :(

Any other international students got an email/mail regarding proof of funding?

I was accepted into the MPA program - I attended the undergrad there (also Maxwell) as well. From my own experiences, the university tends to be quite generous. I don't have any debt coming out of undergrad; a friend of mine (international student) was offered 80% from the school (although she opted to attend SIPA at full tuition). I also spent a semester in their DC program - many alums in the DC area and the faculty there are well connected. I've met with people from Deloitte, Booz Allen, DOD, DHS, DOE, OMB, etc. if you're thinking public sector consulting or government.

Just got accepted to the MAIR program at Syracuse.  The email also said that this was the last batch of the applications and that funding decisions should come later in the month.

Got the same email. By the way, did you get a formal letter of admission from them? I still haven't got mine although I got a decision on February 19! I'm starting to worry that it got lost in the mail!

Also, weren't you planning to go to Maxwell for one of the admitted student days? Still going?

Got this in reply to an email I sent asking about the admission packet, scholarship decisions and deadline to decide about the offer:

"We haven’t sent out your admissions packet yet.  That will happen very soon, though. We wait for the admissions letter from the Graduate School (you receive one from them as well as from our department.)  With that admissions letter will be the form that you return to us indicating that you accept our offer of admission.

Our Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, Christine Omolino, will be starting to work on the funding decisions on Monday, March 18.  Next week she has to travel for a few events on behalf of our department. If our department offers you an award, she will send you an email.  It takes her at least a week or a bit more to decide to whom to give funding, and what type and how much. There are several variables.  I mention this so that you give it some time.  There may be some applicants that she emails right away and others that don’t hear from us until later in March. We have been saying that everyone will know if they have received an award by April 1.

You have until April 15 to let us know if you have accepted our offer of admission.  That gives you some time to think over whether you’d like to accept our offer."

I havent recieved a formal letter yet, and their response to your email basically explains things lol... good to know about april 15th, thats more than enough time for me to see how everything else falls into place and then make a decision. and yes, i will be attending Maxwells admitted student day on april 3rd.

edit:i also got a FASFA email from syracuse today, so things are going forward!

It's great that you're attending. I'd like to know everything! I might just PM you some questions if that's alright.

I received an admissions letter (MPA student) in the mail today which also informed me that I received a 20 hour tuition scholarship. Does anyone know if other opportunities for aid are available? I'm particularly interested in a research assistantship.

Is this for Maxwell? When the Director of Fin Aid will only make decisions from Mar 18?

Are u sure?

Has anyone who is already decided on Maxwell started looking at housing options? What neighborhoods do grad students typically frequent?

Maxwell is solidly in the lead even before getting funding info. Barring a miracle from WWS this week.

i have already started looking into graduate housing at syracuse. from what i gather, most of the available gradaute housing is either north (genesee and walnut) or east (wescott) of campus and generally on the outskirts of thorden park.

Thanks for the info. I wonder how early is a reasonable date to move? Mid June too late? Does anyone know if there is an admitted students Facebook page or Google group somewhere?

i will be visiting Maxwell on April 3, I've also scheduled visits to at least three housing complexes to look at studios and ask them about move in procedures for grads who plan to arrive in early August. If nobodys answered you before then I'll let you know what they tell me. if you are taking the summer sessions then mid june should be just about enough time to get settled imo.

As for facebook groups, I don't know if theres any group made for 2013 admits but the PAIA group may be of help to you: https://www.facebook.com/pages/PAIA-At-Maxwell-School/195975013808977

Will you post some thoughts on your visit? I don't know that I'll be able to make the trip out for the admitteds day. Is Maxwell your top choice or are you strongly considering some other candidates?
