  1. I deferred my admission from last year. Hoping to make it this year. Anyone here received funding from GHD?
  2. This requirement from your school sounds very cheezy to me. Why would anyone pack USD50K in the expectation that if his funding is rescinded, then there will be something to fall back on? Maybe, you are speaking with the wrong persons. I'd get in touch with the head of the international students office. Its not a even a requirement for visa, so why would they ask this of you? Imagine if all the US universities were asking int students to show proof of 'just in case' funds. Sorry that i'm ranting about this, but it sounds silly to me, unless there's something (like they use the initial funding to lure students and then revoke it after the students matriculates ) they are not telling you!!!
  3. So I had my visa interview today but it was denied. I have full tuition scholarship for both years but I had to show funds for living expenses. My personal funds that I provided was a few thousand bucks more that what was required for the first year. Then bam, the officer asks me how i'm going to fund my 2nd year. I have never read any such requirement anywhere so obviously I was dumbfounded. The only thing I could think off was that I hope to get a research assistantship position to help me through the 2nd year. He said he was not satisfied and he cannot approve my application. Anyone had similar experience? Not sure what to do now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. I hope to join you guys soon. Waiting for scholarship decision.
  5. Not necessarily better. Its what I would have done if I were in your situation. I feel WWS has a better attitude towards public service than HKS. I mean just consider their reason for giving full funding. In your applications, which school ever cited that as a reason? Again, in the absence of a B-school and L-school, WWS students are the kings on the hill. No ego bruising and stuff like that. I believe they get the necessary attention and respect and do not play second fiddle to any school or program. You may wish to speak to piquant777 or fenderpete, current students of WWS.
  6. I'm an international applicant and I received my acceptance email dated March 21. So keep your fingers crossed. Its not all done. But they better give me full funding, otherwise............
  7. I was wondering about the same thing. I haven't heard from Evans. One post said Evans told him/her they will be releasing decisions over the next few days.
  8. Well, rather unfortunate. But it is well!!!
  9. 'Our goal is to release decisions over the next two weeks, but because the process is more like an art than a science, I cannot publish particular dates.' Are you kidding me? Really? Yuck...
  10. My friend go for the MPhil. You already said a PhD is your ultimate goal. So MPhil is the way to go. Plus its full ride.
  11. I had a dream the last time, and I had been accepted into Harvard with funding. They also brought a car to pick me up from where I was to the school. Good sign? The other day as well, a strong thought or conviction came to my mind that Princeton had offered me USD5000 to buy my plane tickets. Hallucination?
  12. Now that is not a good sign. Just kidding.............
  13. Ok, this coming from fenderpete, I know its definitely gonna be Friday!!!
  14. Is this for Maxwell? When the Director of Fin Aid will only make decisions from Mar 18? Are u sure?
  15. I did not submit my application but I received the mail anyway. So there your wish go... Sorry
  16. I regret not starting to think about, research and gather all relevant materials much earlier that I actually did. My first deadline was on Nov 30 and my first contact with my recommenders was Nov 1, took my GRE in the last week of Oct and on top of that spent ages fretting about how to write my SOPs instead of actually writing them. Yuck. In the end (by next week end), I will see how it all worked out.
  17. Fenderpete, can you share your WWS experience so far with us? Very interested to know how its been like. thanks
  18. I've been accepted and am also switching careers. Int Dev't experience - I do not have direct experience here. But I am from a developing country, worked on some good volunteering programs, now work in a developed country with good international finance experience and I'm looking for an educational base from which I can apply all these experiences to international dev't. Hence GHD. Program size - Their goal this year is to keep that small number. They are looking at 20-25.
  19. Yes, I'm an international applicant. I didn't apply to the MSFS, so you will know better. I defer to you.
  20. It seems to me. Some dude said he's received both JHU and Harvard MPH.
