Chin up, folks. Brown rejected my mentor when she applied--and this mentor is one of the most highly regarded scholars in her field today. Perhaps you should read this rejection as a harbinger of good things to come!

Duke was one of my top choices too. I emailed the DGS since I didn't get my answer for a long time. I was close I guess but still didn't get in. Maybe same reasoning for Brown, though I'm not that great of a fit at Brown with my research interests. Anyway, long story short is to contact the DGS at Duke for English. Her name is Kathy Pomeineds. . . Or something, not sure about that last name.

Clearly, Brown has made its choices. Based on the several other rejections that were posted (mine included) and it looks like my other top choices have made their offers and I haven't heard anything. Quite discouraging.
