Like several others, I received my acceptance from SIPA yesterday morning. I believe they said their deadline for accepting or rejecting their offer was May 1. That being said, they have an open house in early April, so I'd expect decisions to be delivered to everyone prior to that date, so that anyone who has not heard, but will be accepted, could attend.

Update: I just called their office as well. They said all decisions have been made, but they have to verify all the letters and check for accuracy etc. They will be rolling out decisions today and in the next few days. If we have not heard back in a week, we should call their office.

I got accepted yesterday as well. I am so sorry to those who are still waiting. The SIPA admitted students day is April 10, so you will know for sure before then. (Those were suppose to be words of encouragement but I know it doesn't help, at all. Sorry...)

Thanks for the information and encouragement, guys! It is very much appreciated. Knowing that the decision has been made and they're just making sure everything is perfect before they release the results actually sets me at ease. The time for prayers is over. We'll all know if those prayers were answered soon enough.

Thanks!! That gave me SOME relief and you're clearly more skilled at asking direct questions... or the person who answered the phone was a lot more helpful :)

I think the person who answered was definitely more helpful/understanding!

There is one lady working in admissions who is particularly flaky. I called because I was having a technical problem with something on the online application, and after I describe this very mundane issue, she bursts out laughing, then composes herself and transfers me to someone else. I have a feeling energypolicy23 got her on the line lol

Congratulations!! Are you going to go to SIPA now that you got in?! Thank you for the info... I hope to be at the open house, if they let me:) do you know what date it is in April?

Thanks for the kind words. I thought SIPA was my dream program, especially since it's in NYC, but I think SAIS may be the better fit. Neither program gave me funding, but SAIS is substantially more affordable, and so that may factor into my final decision as well. I have lots of due diligence to do. Good luck and hope to see you at the open house!

Right and a plane flight to NYC, while missing work!

I'm glad GPPI has two options for their admit day that occur on Fridays. I'm going to plan around them and do an individual meet and greet w/ Columbia =D Probably like you, it isn't easy (or affordable?!) to skip out on work mid-week. I'll say the free meals sound appealing :P Just waiting for West coast airfare to go on sale or something... ha ha

And while waiting for SIPA, unannounced came acceptance from Ford. :)

This definitely makes the wait a lot easier. But waiting nevertheless.

ummmm.... then how come no one has heard yet today? Or no one anal enough to be checking these craze-inducing forums?? :)

Maybe it's going to be another 1:00am release time like the first batch? Last year the first batch went out at 6:00pm, and then subsequent releases came in spurts. But there's not much time left in today...

yeah i was wondering the same thing, but we must also take into consideration that all of the applicants dont post their decisions/updates here.

It's true - I often find myself forgetting that their are other applicants out there who aren't on gradcafe

sorry... everyone on here I am sure is normal, and we'd all be friends once we get there (but never admit outloud we were on these forums refreshing the page a thousand times)... I'm just feeling like a crazy pants. I hope we find out tomorrow, I don't think I can bear waiting the whole weekend!

Define normal - maybe us manic refreshers are the majority  ... Probably not though...

Whatever. I'm abnormal, crazy pants, borderline catatonic, whatever you wanna call me. Alls I know is I wanna go to SIPA and this ambiguity is killing me. My stomach was doing somersaults last night waiting until my projected second batch release time (freaking 1:00am) and then forcing myself to refresh one more time before passing out at 1:30. My body is so done with this week, having to juggle work and grad school anxiety. I am hoping and praying that all of us hear back from SIPA tomorrow, that we all get in, that we all get fully funded plus stipend and that when we do waltz onto campus, we all celebrate because all that refreshing paid off.

So should we stay up until 1am? Or wake up in the middle of the night? Or better off, recharge our batteries, and sleep tight until it's morning in whatever part of the world we are in? At the end, it'll still be tomorrow, right? Or...whenever. Seriously, we need to relax. These kind of emotions can be harmful! Bottom line is that if we get accepted, that's amazing. If not, oh well, we did our best and you can either go elsewhere or apply next year with a better gre, better sop, and overall, a stronger application.

Good luck to all and sweet dreams.

For everyone who has been accepted lately - Was it with or without funding and which program...Any news on MPA MDP?

Last year seems to suggest the now famous Pile 1: 65% + Pile 2: 20% + Pile 3: 15%. Just wanted to see where they are in this now...

Posted

IdnujnanCihtrak, judging from previous posts and the results survey, it would seem that the applicants receiving their decisions in the first batch were all MIAs and MPAs, and nobody has reported receiving funding. This lends itself to the theory that last year's "pile" system is still in effect.

Posted

I applied for MIA, and still haven't heard back from SIPA either... although people appear to have been receiving their decision for the last two days now... :S can someone enlighten me as to what this "pile" system is?? thanks...

well according to what I've seen on here- people started hearing back from SIPA on 3/14...
