d_al Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 I also applied to the Department of Architecture and Design. Let's keep our fingers crossed while we attend a response. Please let me know if you hear anything from them! 1) I would think recent graduate would be a bit more close to the 1 year or less period, but I seriously doubt that 2.5 years will hurt your application. 2) They do, the website says that international applicants are welcome and they offer J-1 visa sponsorship, plus 1500 dlls for travel expenses if your selected. 3) I just graduated some 5 months ago, and have brief experience in curatorial assistance, but my most recent being very valuable as I was working in a leading private collection in Latin America, where I was put in charge of a very important traveling exhibition project. Sorry if it's a little late for a response. Did you apply? Thanks for your input on my questions! I really appreciate it - for some reason, I didn't get a notification that someone answered my post, so I'm a little late replying. Yes, I did apply to the Curatorial Internship but I haven't heard anything back yet. I couldn't find a notification deadline on their website either, so I'm not sure how long to wait before contacting them. Now that we're at the end of June, has anyone received a phone call? Cheers!!
d_al Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Did anyone apply for the Photography Dept 12 Month Internship? 1) I also graduated 2 years ago but I've been teaching English in South Korea so I'm hoping that doesn't put me at a disadvantage. 2) And yes they accept international students and pay for travel expenses. So you should be fine! 3) As for experience, I have a wide range of curatorial internships on my resume as well as in other departments (Development and Education) and I graduated with a degree in Art History. But since I'm fluent in Spanish (which is preferred for the internship I applied), I'm hoping that will make up for my lack of involvement in the art world these past two years...we'll see That's good to hear that I'm not the only one with 2 years behind me who is applying! I also graduated with an art history degree (Specialist), but only a bachelor of arts, not a masters. As for experience, I have actually curated shows and organized shows because I was lucky enough to land a job out of university where I ran a small artists' collective in Toronto - so I feel very confident in that I have a lot of relevant, interesting experience. But I know the competition is fierce for MoMA internships! I noticed that they only advertised the 12 month internships for less than a month and they weren't advertised as much as previous years, seemingly. If I hadn't known about them and been waiting for them to be advertised, I probably would have missed the boat. I wonder if they did that to automatically reduce the number of applications? Cheers!!
ted123 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Hello everyone! Good to see there's a thread for the 2014/2015 MoMA applicants! It's helpful to know there's other's in the same boat. As Avalong already asked, has anyone heard anything back regarding interview or anything at all? We're supposed to hear back in 10days (21st of July). Maybe things are running behind as they did publish the positions a few days late. What do you guys think? Should we be worrying?
d_al Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Hi everyone, I still have heard nothing. Zilch. I'd rather not pester them until the notification deadline, so until then, am just sitting tight.

umalum734 Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Hi! I applied to the painting and sculpture department 12 month program. i did receive an email on jun 18 saying that I had been selected for the next round of the selection process, requesting transcripts and academic/professional references to be submitted. It said they would be evaluating candidates for interview after receiving these documents (returned June 25)
avalong Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Did anyone else receive this email from MoMA regarding references?

The deadline for applications was 13th February and on the website it says: "You will receive confirmation by e-mail within four weeks of the application deadline only if we have received all of your materials." 4 weeks will be tomorrow, March 13th.
