I have been in the dark this whole time... there are no other Portugal people on here and I really would like a little, tiny timeline...

I haven't e-mailed, called Rachel and I'm kind of debating if I could send her an e-mail..

Should I just suck it up and wait?! I don't want to be a bother.

Confused..

Hey all, new to the forum...I was recommended for an ETA in Malta, just wondering if anyone else on here is waiting to hear or completed an ETA there? Good luck to everyone!!

I hope they send all the Germany ETA notifications on the same day...maybe they're out to lunch?

Very likely, if you didn't get a rejection now it probably means you got it.

I still haven't heard back from Germany for the ETA. I hope that's a good sign, or it could be my worst fear... that my application accidentally got thrown into a shredder somewhere and PAD doesn't know I exist... I'm having an anxiety attack right now

Same! Except I'm worried mine got lost in the mail!

If we're stuck waiting because we got it it will be worth it....but it kind of feels like torture right now, especially if we don't hear until tomorrow or something!

Good luck to you though!

Just made the mistake of checking my email while driving--kinda glad I didn't get in an accident.

I've been designated as an Alternate for the Germany ETA. I almost wish they'd just rejecte me, because now I have to wait longer! I'm so sorry to those who weren't selected, I hope we can all find a way to get to Germany in the fall anyway.

If you're sti waiting to hear, good luck!!

Anyone apply to the USTA Austria? I'm still holding out that they'll accept me.

I say we reject Fulbright and form our own scholarship, only for the rejected. We'll call it "Rejectbright". It will be open only to those who have received a no in their lives.

Btw, lKjl, you might be in luck if people have made dual applications for Austria and Fulbright... its rare that there is a double scholarship like that.

I'm waiting on Austria, but I'm not very hopeful. It was not a top quality application but I am hoping that perhaps Fulbright will siphon off some and allow some space for the Fulbright rejected.

2004- Austria, Full- Alternate

2008- Sweden, Full, Reject

2012- Brazil, Full, Acceptance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For those of you rejected this year, don't let this inhibit you. A different year, and a different country, plus more education or experience, might lead to more fruitful results. Now to get back to dreaming about Brasilia....

Same here! I've been lurking for awhile and finally registered. I am a Germany ETA applicant and have yet to hear anything--rejection, alternate, acceptance. I am freaking out that my application never arrived. Oje, oje, oje...

It's been over two hours since the initial folks heard back about Germany ETA with rejections. This is strange.

Acceptance notifications come from the FSB, right? The others come from the IIE? Maybe that's the reason?

this is intense, and im not even a German ETA finalist... good luck to those of you still waiting to hear

Congrats to all of those who got good news today! And yay for Western Hemisphere full results starting to come it!!

Super unfortunate that there are so few ETA France candidates out there ...

I know- because there are so few spots for us!

We will almost certainly hear this week since the French gov't ETA decisions go out next week... Did you apply for both? I am wondering if we will receive separate emails or if they have coordinated with each other...

Bon courage!

It' might be possible that they are still trying to figure out who is truly accepted and who is then relegated to alternate (but really wanted to give the grant to), because of budgeting?

Well someone on here already said they're an alternate. I think it just has to do with the fact that acceptance notifications come from FSB, not the IIE. So it's up to them when they sent the notification.

But it is frustrating that the first notifications went out 4 hours ago...

True, I saw that someone was already told they were an alternate. But it's also true a couple other people have received acceptance notifications from people at IIE.

What I meant was more along the lines of there being two sets of 'alternates' - one that they really reaaaally want to give the grant to and are waiting for confirmation of funding or to see if an accepted person declines the grant, and one that they want to give the grant to (since of course IIE recommended them) but that it's unlikely they will be able to accept them because of the limitations on the program, if that makes sense. I'm just speculating though.

EDIT: a couple people now have said something along the lines of "you'll get an acceptance from FSB and a rejection/alternate from IIE" - I'm wondering where that opinion comes from?

Many thanks to T Pain, sambino4, and Jumat for your thoughts!

Congrats to those who have heard and my heart's with those who received unfavorable news. I hope notifications for other countries come soon!
