sshrced Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 For all of you sitting alone without drinking companions Ludwig von Dracula, cathaea and Vee 3
Dakon Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 So, let me get this straight: They can tell us that they sent the results by means of the internet, but they cannot tell us - even informally - of the results by internet? Andsowego 1
Ludwig von Dracula Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 What are the chances that letters will enter the US postal system in time to take of advantage of working Saturdays? Probably not good, but the sooner, the better! The waiting is killing me now that it's so close!
DMMS18 Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Ha, this is true. A Psych doctoral candidate could have a lot of fun with students' responses to these kinds of national scholarship competitions. I wonder if SSHRC would fund that.... haha Andsowego, cathaea and sshrced 3
DMMS18 Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Thanks for sharing! It's usually two days in the mail from Ottawa to Montreal so I guess that means I might be out of my misery by next Tuesday Cassandra, I am hoping the same thing!! I work Tuesday so I don't know how I will be able to compose myself Where do you studY?
Compoe Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Cassandra, I am hoping the same thing!! I work Tuesday so I don't know how I will be able to compose myself Where do you studY? You're lucky. You only have to compose yourself; I have to compose myself AND a major commission for a local orchestra. :/
DMMS18 Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 (edited) Anyone hear from their dept. or school this afternoon?! Edited April 28, 2012 by DMMS18
CassandraC Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 (edited) Anyone hear from their dept. or school this afternoon?! Nope. Officially, they aren't supposed to let us know even when they do know. I suspect my department may have heard something yesterday but who knows. Hang in there - the end is in sight! I study at McGill; what about you? Edited April 28, 2012 by CassandraC

Andsowego Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Just in time, as I am wasting some hours in an airport after a delayed flight. Finally returning to "my" side of the country. Should have several weeks worth of snail-mail piled up when I get home, but still have to wait at least two more days for SSHRC results to show up. Whyyyyyy doesn't Canada Post work on Sundays? Geez. lol
poseidon2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 von Dracula makes a great point. Had'nt thought of Saturday delivery. That might make it arrive Monday in NYC or Tuesday...
Ludwig von Dracula Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 von Dracula makes a great point. Had'nt thought of Saturday delivery. That might make it arrive Monday in NYC or Tuesday... But does Canada Post work on Saturdays? I doubt there was enough time for it to get into America's postal system by the weekend if the letters were only sent out on Friday afternoon...guess we'll see soon enough.
DMMS18 Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Who thinks people in Toronto / MOntreal could get their letters tomorrow?!!??
ducon_lajoie Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Would love it but I highly doubt tomorrow will be the day unfortunately. Oh well it's the last mile
littlebirdie Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I hope so! I'm in TO so I'll let people know if I get a letter tomorrow or not!
obrera Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 But does Canada Post work on Saturdays? I doubt there was enough time for it to get into America's postal system by the weekend if the letters were only sent out on Friday afternoon...guess we'll see soon enough. Canada Post works around the clock seven days per week. It's only the letter carriers and parcel delivery that is only Mon-Fri. So the letters from SSHRC have a pretty good chance of making it to their appropriate cities or at least being sorted into their appropriate cities over the weekend. But the people who work in the mail processing plants often work midnights and weekends.
checkeredBlanket Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Canada Post says 4-7 business days to reach the German lands.....fingers crossed for FRiday!!
checkeredBlanket Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I would love to discuss and debate some sshrc stuff while we all wait for the results, but nothing comes to mind...
littlebirdie Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 At least we know letters are on their way!!!

Ziz Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Even though I know there is pretty much 0% chance that my letter will arrive today (UK) I will still obsessively wait for the mail today.
Compoe Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 (edited) Ugh, I could barely sleep last night because of the possibility of receiving the letter today. Not just that, but when I did drift off my sleep was filled with dreams of getting departmental notification, or of being waitlisted, and other SSHRC-related things. Oh, how I long for the dreams where I'm just being chased down an endless tunnel. Edited April 30, 2012 by Compoe
Interferenceviolet Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Ugh. I feel like I'm going to have a heart attack. The pressure in my chest from the nervousness is killing me here.
