I'm so tired of waiting. I almost feel numb to this whole process. I just want to know!! Even a short email with one word - "accepted" or "rejected" - would suffice.

I can't get my mind off of when I'll be notified and what that notification will be.

Argh.

I feel ya' dude. I think most of us do, at this point. Try to hang in there.

Hear, hear!

I know that it will be over soon, blah, blah, but let's face it: this process blows.

You aren't alone. This process leaves me going from hopeful to defeated to depressed multiple times of day. I'm just obsessed about hearing back. I'm lucky to have an interview, but even then chances aren't very high. I just want to know for sure, instead of assuming rejection from places I don't hear from.

yeah, the feeling is going around. i've been having nightmares about rejection notices for the past month.

Also, hi there, Kazoo- i see you're interviewing at SAIC! i did my undergrad there!

Exactly this! Sigh.

Plus I just want to go email crazy and email all the graduate secretaries/DGSes/whoever to inquire if decisions have been sent out yet. I don't particularly understand why this is so frowned upon - you'd think that grad programs would enjoy alleviating the stress of our currently fragile minds - but I've heard that it's not proper practice.

:( Wish I could buy you a drink! Or (insert favorite sugary treat here).

I decided at the beginning of the year that I would wait until mid-March to contact my programs (by then everything except waitlists should be clear...) but let me tell you I came so close to emailing them today. Based on the results page, several programs have held interviews and I'm pretty sure my app has been rejected at these schools. All I want is for these schools to just tell me already! That way I can cross them off my list and can focus on my remaining schools. My advisor keeps telling me to be patient, but I, like you and so many others, am so tired of being patient.

I am thisclose to emailing the POI at my top choice and asking right out if he knows if I got in or not... :( I can't handle the waiting. I just want to email him so he'll tell me and I can move on with my life. :o

I completely relate! My top choice doesn't have a way for me to check my status online. Today I almost emailed the grad secretary to just see when I should hear anything (so far it's been crickets), but right now having this school as one of my options is what is keeping hope alive. The only thing that kept me from not contacting them was the fear of them saying that it is a rejection...just not sure I could deal with that today. Any of my other schools I think I could handle the rejection today, but not this one.

I was feeling this earlier today because I hadnt heard from anywhere for the last 2.5 weeks. Then I got a small envelope from Harvard saying I was rejected, felt relieved, and then angry that this whole process has been detrimental to my self esteem and wellness.

I've decided to take my rejection letters and do something fun with them. Constructive. Productive. Pretty. Papier mache or collages or something. Don't let this get you down!

My top school does have a way of checking online but it won't work for me. I want to ask someone lol but I don't want to come off as pushy, especially since I know they hate students that constantly ask.. so I might give it a week then see if I should contact them in case they're missing something.

I know that must suck, and I definitely can't say it doesn't, but don't feel bad about yourself over not getting into Harvard. If you could even apply, or think of applying there, you'll have a good school come your way - one that probably won't cost as much.

You all have much more self control than I do. I finally heard from schools on Friday and promptly turned around and emailed all my other schools saying I had offers and why the heck hadn't I heard anything when their due dates were earlier than schools that had answers!

 I ended up having to do the same. My first offer (from my safety) needed me to make a decision and send it back by the first week of March, so I was able to mail all my schools and ask when I could expect to hear from them since I had a pending offer. It totally paid off! The next morning I had an email telling me one school would tell me my decision soon (in a very suspiciously happy manner) and the morning after that I got a funded offer from them! Another school told me they were just having their meeting and would let me know their decision (unofficially) asap. Everyone who replied was incredibly helpful and nice AND it relieved my pent up stress!

You got much more productive replies. One has ignored me so far, another forwarded my email to someone more appropriate, and one told me to start considering those other offers because they'd already had their interview day and I wasn't invited. Oh wait.... :(

Yikes, sorry! It looks like you've gotten some good offers as consolation for the not-so-nice replies at least! Although we do need to figure out how to handle those that go the ignoring route- it looks like two that I mailed (which will remain nameless ) aren't up to answering either

Oh dear, this makes harassing schools I haven't heard from all the more tempting...

I didn't hear a single thing today, and there was no mail. This is basically my mental and physical state:

It's not very nice.
