asleepawake Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 (edited) Well, yes, but Columbia is in New York City (automatic extra 50% applications!) and they accept a larger number of students. Still hella-selective, of course. Edited February 2, 2013 by asleepawake
HHEoS Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I also think Columbia gets that many apps because they are a top program that does not require the Subject Test, along with NYC thing. But it's app fee is far from cheap. They actually raised it by $5 this year. I didn't realize that until I got to the final payment screen. I felt duped (not that I would've decided not to apply because of an extra 5 bucks).
NowMoreSerious Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 My top schools where I want to apply to are Oxford and the Sorbonne. But my safety's Harvard. patientagony, M(allthevowels)H, Porridge and 11 others 14
bluecheese Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Where did that number from for Boulder? I thought they took more than 4. It's on the results board. I think I saw it somewhere else too, prior. I assume it is related to budgetary cutbacks.
TripWillis Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 (edited) It's the Stansbury of the southeast. You're not fit to polish Jessie Spano's boots! Edit: I'm paraphrasing the guy in the show. You are more than fit to polish Ms. Spano's boots. Edited February 2, 2013 by TripWillis bfat and practical cat 2
jrockford27 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 (edited) My top schools where I want to apply to are Oxford and the Sorbonne. But my safety's Harvard. I lol'd. I wonder if Vanderbilt changes their method every year just to throw Gradcafe off, ha. Looking at this year so far, with the rejections going out (apparently) before any acceptances; then last year with the strange "secret waitlist" stuff; then the year before, where the rejections didn't go out (apparently) until March; it seems like they like to experiment heh. Speaking of which, last year the acceptance notifications last year apparently went out on the uh, 5th and 6th of February, which were, uh *cough*, the first Sunday and Monday of February 2012. But hey, we really shouldn't read into that, right? Edited February 3, 2013 by jrockford27 TripWillis 1
TripWillis Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 My top schools where I want to apply to are Oxford and the Sorbonne. But my safety's Harvard. Well done.
TripWillis Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 As if all your waiting wasn't bad enough, now you also have to wait for the My Bloody Valentine website to un-crash. nothingatall 1
NowMoreSerious Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Well done.Everybody got the reference, right? No google cheating, either.

ocean Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Seems like NYU has sent acceptance notifications! There is a post on the results board!
cicada123 Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Seems like NYU has sent acceptance notifications! There is a post on the results board! Just saw them. Terrified.
BrookeSnow Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Okay question, I've mentioned this before but I have a person writing recommendations who seems to have skipped out on my last three recommendations. Two schools it is too late to do anything about but I have one final school where the application is not officially due until March 1st. Should I try to come up with another recommendation? I don't know who I would ask but I'm not confident the person who did my other recommendations will come through.
asleepawake Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Yes - ask another person if you have someone. It can't hurt. If you end up with 4, that isn't so bad. If you end up with 2...
InHacSpeVivo Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 I jusy saw two Vanderbilt acceptances on the results page... congrats to those who made the cut!
practical cat Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Slow morning. Do not like.Slow early-afternoon, too. Oh, Mondays!Anyone want to speculate senselessly on who will be next? I think my Berkeley hopes are not long for this world.
HHEoS Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 I'm hoping for Chicago. The lack of news today is torture.
JeremiahParadise Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Slow early-afternoon, too. Oh, Mondays! Anyone want to speculate senselessly on who will be next? I think my Berkeley hopes are not long for this world. I have a feeling Michigan State will be waiting in mailboxes today or tomorrow. No rationale, really.
jrockford27 Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Based on last year, we're well within the time frame that we could expect Chicago, Duke, and the remainder of the Buffalo acceptances this afternoon.
slvitale Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Oh Duke...my top choice, and you may as well be on the summit of K2.
Deadinthewater Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 I'm putting my phone and laptop away for the afternoon. I can't do this. a,mrnta,mnyaklrjoiaufglkjadlakkzvjkznjdagjznxcv,m.mq,temnq,.taogipuzdofhgk;,aejrt.m,anaqejtalgrnam,gksdakl;a;ggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggkl
