MarketingPhD2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 One question... Would you continue your quest to get into graduate school????
We regret to inform you Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 I'd go part time if they'd let me. If not, then no I wouldn't go.
nari27 Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 yep, and then pay a bunch of interns/grad students to run my experiements for me and I would just write it up like a PI!
MarketingPhD2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 To answer my own question...I would like to think I would go anyways, but then I think about all the traveling I could do instead of enduring the stresses of school!
gabie89 Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Definite yes. Because then, I'd have the money to pay for school! MissH, space.cadet, DeeLovely79 and 1 other 4
jbriar Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Same here. I would go for sure, and enjoy not having to worry about student loans. tocjr, DeeLovely79, psychgurl and 2 others 5
ktel Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 I am already in grad school, but I'm pretty sure I would quit if I won $500,000,000
TeaGirl Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Absolutely... I would go and bask in the joy of not having to worry about finances.... ever. Just pursuit of whatever interests me the most. DeeLovely79 and tocjr 2
go3187 Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Having a lot of money (or not) has nothing to do to me with getting a PhD. I'm already in grad school, and I'd continue even if I won such a jackpot. tocjr 1
Pinky Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Heckfire no! Traveling the world would be what I would use the money for. Maybe buy a house but I doubt I would get a mansion... I love science but I could start my own scholarship/funding agency/Nobel Prizes awards with that amount instead.
mirandaw Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 I would definitely do grad school still. Going on year 2 of being ridiculously underemployed? No thank you. tocjr and 3point14 2
wildviolet Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 I would still go without having to worry about being on the job market in five years.
cafeaulaitgirl Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 I would definately still go to grad school. It would be even better since I wouldn't have to worry about finances. I am in it to win it!
Weirdlight Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Deffinitly, but not this year. I would travel for a few more years instead and pursue it in a bit since I wouldn't have to worry about careers.
snes Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Hahaha I've been buying tickets!! So I can have a grad school experience completely focused on school and not $$!
kneebuz Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I would definitely still go, but as a Masters student instead.
TropicalCharlie Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I, too, would still go but only to get my MS. Not having to worry about $$ while attending would be so nice
StephanieJ Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I would...and not worry for a minute about paying for it!
kdok Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 absolutely I would go, but would go in the states/UK if money was not an issue.
echolikebells Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I would absolutely go, but I am not ashamed to admit I'd go for English instead of my M.Ed.
Silent_G Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I was just talking to my fiance about this today! We both bought some tickets, and we both decided we'd still go to grad school. We'd just have a nicer place to live and not have to worry about funding.
mhancock743 Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 (edited) I'd create University of Matt. Then I'd award myself full funding and attend. Also, I would buy a jet-pack because duh, jet-pack. Edited March 30, 2012 by mhancock743
transcendental Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 YES! I was actually just thinking about this as I was buying my tickets a bit ago. Then I wouldn't have to live in a dump.
dimanche0829 Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 (edited) I would definitely still go! Heck, I'd even set aside $10-20,000,000 in to help other grad school hopefuls from this website. Nothing breaks my heart more than reading a post about someone who couldn't go to grad school because of money troubles. Edited March 30, 2012 by dimanche0829 snes 1
abc123xtc Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Yes, I would still go. However, I would be able to enjoy it more and live in nicer places. I also wouldn't have to worry about immediate job placement upon graduation. I could truly enjoy life. I would also donate the money to causes I believe in and travel EVERYWHERE.
