I am recommended for a full/research grant to Mexico and also received an interview request from COMEXUS today.

I've added a column to the spreadsheet, "Country Interview Date."  When you have your interview, put the date down. It might be cool to see when all interviews were conducted (possibly useful for future years applicants). So for all you UK, Russia and Mexico applicants and others, please go ahead and add!

Salaam y'all.

China research Fulbright applicant. We won't find out if we get it until late April (last year was Apr 27). I want to ask: have any of you received feedback from the IIE Beijing people about your second statement, the one that we had to write that actually goes to the Chinese review board? I did hear from a Janet that they'll be in touch with comments/suggestions for the statements - basically how to make the probably very sensitive Chinese authorities go "huh, yeah, this person sounds like he's not too weird." Any experiences with crafting your new statement? I basically said what I want to do straightforwardly, though it was a bit more simplified than my first statement and less adventurous sounding.

And did anyone else out there have to do that? Basically write another research proposal for the application reviewers in your target country?

Katta Rahmat.

Haha. Love that.

I haven't; and I am surprised that some host countries are asking for re-submissions,

I love how when I log into this forum or look at the Google docs there are always other people logged in. I suspect (hope) they are doing the same thing I am:

boring a hole into the screen as if I could see all the way to IIE or somehow glean secret information just by staring at the spreadsheets or the Fulbright website and thus bypass 2 months of waiting by getting an answer through sheer osmosis into the matrix.

Yup. Pretty much. I think I have made progress with the hole boring. I'll let you know if I crack the code.

UK folks - people who have earlier interviews (like the beginning of next week), if you feel like it, I'm sure the rest of us UKers would love to hear about the questions/what the interview was like. Probably not what you feel like doing after you get past that interview but it would be great info!

FPA just e-mailed recommended applicants at my school saying that FINAL RESULTS ARE COMING IN...so far just Indonesia...

Does he/she mean that the results are coming in now... or does he/she mean "soon?"

secretlyismaili: I can confirm that I got the same request to resubmit the shorter version of the proposal for China. It seems this is standard for China.

Very cool. When did applicants find out last year?

March 27th, I believe, for both ETA and full.

That's right: Fulbright 2012-2013 Spreadsheet

The earliest acceptance was March 5th, for Belgium. Which means I'm skeptical about this announcement, since last week's hint that decisions were coming out earlier appeared to be a false alarm. But, hopefully I'm wrong and they are coming out now.

EDIT: Congratulations Kltree. Glad I turned out to be wrong, even before hitting "submit".

My country is part of the same "region" so hopefully this means good things! :D

Likewise... Their decision-making is all totally separate though, right?
