I dreamed that I was a class T.A. and I was leading the discussion. I looked down and I was naked. Then there were rats everywhere and I was bashing away at them with a broomstick.

i've had several funky dreams lately, including one in which I had scales and was picking them off anxiously while conversing with my ex-boyfriend's mother... but last night i had the first one that I can directly associate with 'losing my damn mind' stressing over grad school admissions.

 

Last night I dreamed that one of my professors who has submitted LOR's, mistakenly checked off the "bottom 50%" rather than the "Top 5 (or 10?)%" in his assessment of my academic ability in comparison with other previous students.  I remember sobbing despondently and lamenting my doomed future.

 

And I'm really wishing I could take a peek at my recommendation letters.  Damn you, waiver!!

Well, I hadn't had any weird dreams, but I dreamt last night that all of my POIs (yes, every single one, including those I never heard back from) were all sitting around a circular table with me, looking at me in a very displeased manor.  Then they got up and started dancing a conga line out of the room.  I may need therapy.

Incidentally, I think this thread has also given me dreaming material - after reading about getting results and not being able to read them I had that dream.

Well, I had a dream SO REAL last night that it woke me up in a frenzy, lol.  

 

In my dream, I got an acceptance email from one of my top schools... but it didn't come from the school itself.  It came from some random community college professor who wanted to congratulate me on my acceptance.  I was like, what?  Then, an opera singer that I was in choir with in college also congratulated me on my acceptance (haven't seen her in 7 years!).  I asked her how she knew, and she said she saw me on a list in the admissions office... which is strange for many reasons, but in part because I'm sure she doesn't know my married name, ha.  

 

By this point, my husband was telling everyone I got in to this school, and I still hadn't heard from the school itself... but I was terrified to contact them to verify and then have them tell me I was actually rejected.

I hadn't had any application dreams until last night and no matter how many times I woke up and went back to sleep it just kept going. In my dream I received an email from UCSD and it was huge, full of pictures and text, just incredibly long. I kept reading and reading but couldn't figure out if it was a rejection or an interview invite! Around 7am I finally gave up on sleeping and got a cup of coffee, but I half expected to see this crazy, epic email when I checked this morning. Thankfully it wasn't there.

I dreamed that I won a "top 50 storytellers" medal at some conference for my statement of purpose. Not as good as an acceptance dream, but pretty hilarious regardless.

I had a dream that my boyfriend, who is applying too, got in everywhere and I was rejected from every school I applied to. The rejection letters came in the ocean on tiny toy boats, and Harvard's rejection letter came with an ugly rejection hat - just to mock me.

Yesterday I finally had an admissions dream, where I was accepted to Rensselaer Polytechnic. Too bad I didn't apply... It was very weird.

The other night, I dreamed I was a new student at Berkeley, and the teacher was giving me extra attention, as if to suggest I was incapable of doing the work, and she kept insisting I ask for help on the packet I was working on if I needed help.  I kept telling her, "I'm fine, thanks.  It's easy material." Then, all of a sudden, I was working in a dingy kitchen. I had a handful of wooden spoons in my hand, and I kept asking where I was supposed to put the spoons, and none of my coworkers would help me.

 

Haha.  I don't know what that's supposed to mean, but I don't think it's good!  Or perhaps it's suggesting that school is breezy for me, and... working in... a kitchen... is... Is my dream playing a sexist joke on me?

My dream last night involved a ton of familiar places, none of which looked like they should, which was disconcerting.  It also involved me escaping from Zombies (apparently, in my dreamland, Zombies cannot eat you when you are on concrete or when you shine light on them)... and also running from hyenas in my grandma's backyard.

 

Not sure what it means for admissions... but, it was a good sign that I was still alive at the end of the dream!

I had a dream two nights ago that all of the schools I applied to were in this huge auditorium, like a job fair. All of us applicants were running frantically from table to table and asking the different programs if we got in.

 

Each table/program had these blackboards that kept a tally of all their acceptances ("A") and rejections ("R"). I went to the first program I had applied to, gave them my last name, and asked if I was accepted. There were like 20 "A"s on their blackboard and one "R". They told me that I was the one reject. I ran to the next table, and the same thing happened again.  I ran from table to table and kept getting rejected, while all the other applicants around me were screaming in excitement about all the programs they got into. 

 

I woke up in a cold sweat!!

Super stressful, and don't even remember what I decided in the dream.  Naturally, I checked my email when I woke up, just in case, but there wasn't anything there...

I keep having these rather torturous dreams that are quite lucid, not really at all surreal, where I'm just checking my email and getting emails from faculty in programs I've applied to.  It's always rather hard to wake up.  I keep my tablet near by bed and always check my e-mail immediately on waking up.  So annoying.

I had a dream last night that I got to go to Italy, however once I got there I realized I had forgotten to brush up on my Italian....and I forgot my camera.....bummer. At least it was one of the first nights (since I found this forum) that I have gotten any rest. Actually, ever since I found this forum (just a few days ago) I haven't quite been able to sleep the same. I've been checking it non stop for news!
