sheisthesmoke
I got an email from Harvard's diversity recruitment office yesterday asking me to confirm and elaborate on some of the details I outlined in my application. Good sign? Bad sign? Completely arbitrary and meaningless? Either way I am now totally and completely preoccupied. -Verdie Pre-existing masters degree, applying to Ph.D programs in English. Faraday
If they were not seriously considering your application, they probably wouldn't waste time asking you this question, so I think it's a good sign!
Nausicaa
Congratulations! I think anything is a good sign at this point. I didn't even apply to anything like Harvard; I'm sure you'll succeed no matter what the outcome. Edited January 6, 2013 by Khani
PhDreams
Was your app due last month or this month? If it was due last month, then I think theres a good chance that your committee has already met! If it's this month, then they wont meet until this month. Regardless, sending you super good vibes for a positive outcome!!!! PS- I can no longer find the applyyourself link on the website to check on my app's status. Do you know where I can find it? sheisthesmoke
Thanks Guys! The apps were due on the 2nd which is why it was so weird that I got an Email back so soon. So far I've heard "this can only be a good thing," but the ever-so-annoyingly-logical pessimist in me is weary of getting my hopes up. All this to reiterate...waiting sucks. PhDreams
Thanks Guys! The apps were due on the 2nd which is why it was so weird that I got an Email back so soon. Awwwwwww......even if the email itself doesnt mean anything, it's not to say that you wont soon get in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Classes don't begin until the end of the month and school didn't reopen until today. So, I really doubt that anyone in the department had any chance to look at apps until today...if they are even back yet (most faculty is still out). However, you have to stay positive and know that as soon as apps do get read, youre going to knock their socks off! Have faith!
runaway
I'm also a minority and applied for a Jan 2nd deadline, and didn't get that email. So maybe it does mean something! Now I'm nervous... BuddingScholar
