Smells like desperation in here.  :)

I understand. Yes, most schools are closed tomorrow and, thus, the faculty will be off.

The University of Michigan isn't. Now, whether the English offices themselves will be open, I don't know, but faculty won't be off.

I'm just going on experience. Faculty and staff tend not to answer or operate e-mail on holidays or weekends. I'm willing to bet there will be posts tomorrow, but fewer than usual, for sure.

I'm not disagreeing with you, just throwing it out there for anyone waiting on Michigan.

I don't think it'll be any slower than any other Monday we've had so far. A couple of places might finish what they started last week but I doubt there'll be any new news.

That's what I've been saying. Mondays have been pretty slow, holidays or no.

Rather than take someone's "experience" to heart, look it up...last year was "D-Day" for Brown and UMass-Amherst...so no, they don't necessarily take the day off. There's no set rule to anything. Don't be surprised when people hear from schools tomorrow.

I think we should dispense with that myth (perpetuated by the Semenza book) that academics don't/can't take days off. It's not that academics don't take days off, it's that they have nightmare schedules. I sometimes work from 8:30-8:00, but I work long hours so I can get Saturday and Sunday off. Otherwise, I'd never see my boyfriend.

Am I detecting a little salt in your tone?  B)  I'm not saying schools won't notify today, just far fewer than usual.

Although I agree with you that pomo is dead.

Welp, it's all quite here at 7:33AM CST, 8:33 eastern, and 5:33 pacific. Might as well call that a day.

(I jest)

I know Ohio State isn't closed and I know of no schools in my area that are closed either. I definitely have class today.

Am I the only one who woke up from a nightmare this morning about another rejection?

Nope, one rejection today followed by an offer from my top choice!

Congratulations! With any luck maybe I'll get something like that by the end of the week!
