Has anyone heard from the University of Washington in Seattle yet? Or University of Southern California?

If you applied to the Neurobiology and Behavior program at UW, interview invitations were all sent out by the end of December.

Do you guys know if that's just for neuroscience or all of Stanford psychology? :( I'm too scared to call/email...

I think Psychology is separate based on what I've seen in the Results section. Psych looks like emails have been going out but I think for Neuro under the Biosciences umbrella went out via phone call last Friday. No harm in contacting them though. I am glad to know rather than keep waiting.

I just got an interview to UCLA for Feb 22-24.  Does anyone know if there are any other interview weekends? Also does anyone who has already interviewed/seen the schedule for the weekend know if the interview starts on the 22nd, or if you must arrive on campus that day?

There's another weekend Feb 8-10 for folks that got invites in December. There may not be any bias between weekends but seeing as we got invites later and our interviews are later, they might have a preference for the people from the first weekend. Hard to say! Based on the pattern I've seen from other interviews, we'll likely be asked to arrive the evening prior.

Congrats to everyone thus far! I've basically been freaking out for a while because I hadn't heard anything. However, I got an interview at both UCLA and USC today!

They have overlapping interview weekends though :( (Feb 20-23 and Feb 22-24). Is anyone in the same boat / any advice??

Thanks!!

Hi, I was just wondering if the UCLA invite was sent out from a POI or mass email? Thanks.

It was a mass email.  Also just so everyone knows who may have conflicts with UCLA, Feb 22, is considered a travel day with option dinner.  Hope that helps!

I went through this process last year, and this forum was a huge help in saving me from my grad school application neuroses (although occasionally facilitating it). It was an awesome, strange support group. Anyway, for those interviewing at Emory, I will be one of the students helping escort recruits to their afternoon interviews, so I look forward to meeting you all there. Let me know if you have any questions about the program in the meantime. Best of luck to everyone this season

Yeah mine was the same mass email.

So regarding the interview dates, if you arrive early Feb 23rd, you wouldn't really miss much? I'll probably get in contact with the school to make sure as well.

Congrats all for your interviews! Does anyone know if UChicago Neurobiology and Vanderbilt NGP have finished sending out invites?

Chicago has already selected (and presumably sent out, since this was a couple weeks ago) their first round of invites. I don't think there is a planned second round (though I suppose they might send out more if a lot of people decline the invite? but I don't know this for sure).

Do you guys think it's time to give up on hearing from MIT and Princeton? I remember someone saying they called Princeton and they said they hadn't sent out all the invites, but that was weeks ago, and it seems like MIT's sent out a good number of invites by now, so I'm thinking it's probably time to stop hoping. :/

Has anyone else heard back from Pittsburgh? The results search indicated that everyone (those who posted here, at least) who received an interview was contacted back in mid-December by phone. There was only one recent notification, which was a rejection. Hope is dwindling...

Just called Columbia and Penn. Columbia said they havent gotten to sending out their invites yet and Penn said it's done. I work at Penn and my PI said I didnt get in because I havent published or presented at national conferences...I didnt think that was necessary since I've been working in research for 4 years and I did a thesis project. Also the Penn program only requires its students to publish one paper in order to receive a PhD so it's very odd that they want you to publish even before you apply! Any words of wisdom on the application pool these days? Is this a typical response?

That probably isn't the only reason you didn't get in. There's something your PI either doesn't want to tell you or is neglecting to tell you (unless everyone who applied this year had amazing publication records, which is doubtful). On the other hand, it could just be that they had a TON of amazing applicants and you were just unlucky, but you'd think that you would have an advantage with your connections at Penn.

Neurotic, which program at Columbia did you apply for? They did send out a few interview invites in late December for the Neurobiology and Behavior program, but they may send more. (The first interview weekend is next weekend)

For the MIT program, this is what I saw in the e-mail I received: " fewer than 10% of the more than 220 applicants to the cognition and computation tracks of the department are being asked to visit."

However, my primary interest was in the computation track (secondary cognitive), so I don't know if this was sent out to the people whose first choice was the cognitive track as well or not. The invites for the various tracks were sporadic, and not on the same days, so it's definitely possible that primary cognitive was not included in that e-mail.

Ratlab, I think you're right. Or at least I hope so, because those are some ridiculously high expectations for their applicants.

Galaxstar, I applied to Neurobiology and Behavior at Columbia, so it's possible he was telling me about the second round of interviews. It would make sense that they'd have a second round since all of the supporting materials were due by January 6th.

On another note, does anyone know about the neuro program at University of Maryland, Baltimore?

U of Maryland were done sending their invites in first week of January. I suggest you to check your online status as they must have updated your admission decision over there.

I got an invitation to interview at University of Maryland, Baltimore a while back and I was wondering if people know about the program and what it's like?

Are you talking about the Neuroscience and Cognition (NACS) program...I imagined that they still haven't started sending out interview invites.

Hey guys I know it's been a while since anyone posted on this thread... I'm just wondering if anyone is still waiting to hear back from schools?

I haven't heard from Duke, Emory, or Vanderbilt (NGP)... just wondering, does anyone know if they are done sending invites? I saw some people get rejections from Emory but I did not get one. Thinking maybe I am on a backup list?

Duke was supposed to meet last Monday for second round picks but I never got anything and I haven't seen anyone else get something either. Any knowledge out there on this, guys? Thanks.
