daykid Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 (edited) You had quite a lot interviews btw. Yea.... I'm having a way better go of it than I expected. To be fair though, I don't live too far outside of Philly. So, it was also a convenience thing. My POI basically said if I had any questions or wanted to see the campus, I should come by and I took advantage of it. Edited February 12, 2014 by daykid
Khannnn Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Yeah last year Cornell was already done by this time. I am so anxious. Yep. Knowing that information from the previous year only make it worse...
sarab Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 What about CUNY and UCLA (non-arch)? I saw some cultural rejections from CUNY, but no acceptances or interviews.
strudelle Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I am freaking out quite a bit after a somewhat confusing phone call from my POI at my top choice the other day. Sigh. I want this so bad
aboutdesouffle Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Are other socio-cultural folks who've applied to UC Berkeley and haven't heard either way also thinking no news is bad news?
jonaki Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 congratulations for the chicago acceptance! anyone want to claim it and let on which subfield they are?
chba Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 hi, i´ve been checking the site for a while. i have seen today that someone is going to be interviwed for linguistic anthropology at upenn. have the people from sociocultural been contacted? and does upenn always do interviews? thank you! and good luck everyone
dreams1214 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I just really want to get in! I am so confused about everything.
dreams1214 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) I am new to the site and have been checking the Results page since Dec. before I submitted my application. 1111 Edited February 13, 2014 by dreams1214 Forsaken in LA and dreams1214 2
colorless Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Cornell is me. But it was an email. However they said that results will come very soon.
Forsaken in LA Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Sorry colorless, stay positive. What do you mean it was an email? It was a personal email? Did you ask them? Sorry to ask so many questions, I'm just really curious.
colorless Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Yeah personal email because they want to refer me to the M.A. program in archaeology. I am surprised, sad and unable to function! What can I do without funding?
colorless Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 It is 8 am here and what a wonderful way to start the day. I am so sad.
dreams1214 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 You can apply for funding once you are in the program jmillar 1
colalalala Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 It is 8 am here and what a wonderful way to start the day. I am so sad. Trying to stay positive colorless!!! Don't lose hope!!!!
colorless Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I am international, it is very difficult to go there without funding for one year of school. Plus I do have Master's already (in a different subject), my B.A. was in archaeology and a wonderful one. A PhD would be just perfect why am I being tortured.
dreams1214 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 You should ask them? They may have options for you, especially if they are offering you a spot somewhere.
colorless Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I will ask them for sure but still... moving to another country for yet another Master's at 30 with dependents without a tangible funding and without the guarantee for PhD...ummm.. lots of factors Canis 1
monfemme Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 It is 8 am here and what a wonderful way to start the day. I am so sad. hugs to you colorless. i am so sorry your day started off like that... I must admit I am shocked by how absorbed into this process I have become and can imagine how you feel. again hugzzzzz!!!
strudelle Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Sorry to hear that, colorless. I totally understand where you're coming from. If you already have a masters then why would you waste your time going for another unfunded masters? I really hope you hear some good news soon!
Khannnn Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I'm sorry colorless I would at least get in contact with them and ask how you could work out getting your MA there and possible funding. I know you have one already in a different area but maybe dedicating a couple years to getting a relevant Cornell MA will be beneficial in the long run?
novacancy Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Anyone want to claim either of the CUNY interviews? Which subfield are you?
