From what it looks like, York has started working down the wait list -- so those of us that didn't get in on the first round may be hearing word over the next few days. Best of luck to everyone waiting to hear back.

My deadline to accept/decline York's offer was the 20th, so I imagine more spots will open up after that date. Good luck!

Still waiting to hear from McMaster and Western. I'm going to guess if offers have already rolled out for Western that I did not get one. I have been accepted to Brock's MA Poli Sci and MA Social Justice and Equity Studies, and will most likely accept one of them since it will not require moving my family (I have a 4 year old with another one on the way), just want to hear from these two schools before I make it official. Le sigh. The waiting game absolutely sucks.

Asterix and theory, thanks for the info. If we haven't heard anything back to date does that likely mean reject or possible waitlist? I got my 1st sociology acceptance today but w/o funding, it really isn't viable. Am strongly thinking about calling york and the other program haven't heard back from tomorrow.

I wouldn't assume that you have been rejected. The only reason that I found out that I was on the waitlist is because I contacted the department after hearing about other acceptances, otherwise I would be as in the dark as everyone else. With any luck, you'll get some good news on the next round of offers. It may be worth giving a call or sending an email asking for an update especially if you have other offers that are looking for an answer from you and information from York would help you make that decision -- although I know that can be a nervous experience that some people prefer to avoid. For me, the waiting was far worse than the looking silly. :)

For those who applied to McGill: I called yesterday to check my status and the secretary told me that they will be rolling out their rejections this week. Acceptances to follow in the coming weeks. ~400 applicants; accepting +40; 2 rounds.

@PoliPixie: I suggest you call Western to find out more. I got offered in late February and my deadline to accept is this Friday (March 14th). [i've already done so, actually.]

Good luck to all!

Hey, I've recently been accepted to Queen's Political Studies option and was wondering if you could provide a little feedback with regards to your experience and funding.

Please feel free to pm me if you get the chance,

Thanks

I think I will tomorrow (from the weather reports, I'm dubious there would be anyone around to answer today). I would probably not accept Western anyways since it would require moving, but I wanted the option.

Has anyone heard from McMaster yet?

Just got the email to check my Mcgill App. Rejected for MA in Political Science (Thesis).

Oh well, 3/4 acceptances isn't bad, and i already accepted my offer at U of T so i'm not too bothered. I guess McGill was probably the most competitive program that i applied to.

And with that, my cycle is over.

Received email notification from the Graduate Coordinator of acceptance to McGill Master's program - my focus is on comparative. For those who are waiting: they seem to have sent a blast email for the rejections and are sending personalized emails with acceptances.

Congrats! First acceptance of the cycle?

Thanks, IRToni! :) It's my first acceptance of the cycle and probably the program I will attend since my two holdout schools don't offer good funding packages.

Please disregard my prior post. The graduate assistant told me that acceptances would come after Friday..and looky-looky..I just got an acceptance as well!

This is bittersweet seeing that I've accepted my offer at Western yesterday. (Will need to reconsider  ) I wish deadlines didnt have to be so damn soon for some places. I'm in a pickle.

Good luck to all!

^ Congrats on McGill.

Given my interest in Eastern Europe, the program probably wasn't that great of a fit for me compared to other schools. Also, i don't want to move lol.

Congratulations! See you on the other side!

Thanks! Although im actually entering an interdisciplinary MA rather than poli sci! But my focus will be on poli sci of course :)

Ugh, stupid touchy buttons. Can you count my downvote as an upvote please? CERES is a great program and my friend who went there last year had a great experience and got tons and tons of funding from various U of T sources for language study and fieldwork. McGill's European Studies Institute is much less focused on Eastern Europe than other parts of the continent, so fit probably wasn't right.

Thanks, I called York today and got the same answer as you, that we're all wait-listed.  As a US person, the odds are longer for me, but there's a glimmer of hope. Good luck.

Stupid me, I thought fit wouldn't be as important for an MA compared to a PhD because it's still taught courses rather than 1 on 1 work with an advisor. So i thought, hey i'll churn out a few more apps just in case! An important lesson learned for the future i guess :) (Of course they could have rejected me for reasons other than fit)

I feel that as soon as you attach specific methodologies, especially if they are niche ones, or geographic areas to your research interest, fit becomes an issue. Fit was probably very important in my case because of the focus on South Asia and I bet it was for you too.

I am slowly going crazy. I swear I check at least 4 times a day (my email and the various school systems) and refresh the results list on the forum even more than that. I really don't want to make a decision between the two I've been accepted to until I hear from Mac and Western. This is agony.

Give Western a call! Their offer deadline was Friday, March 14th for those accepted in the first round.

(Good luck with getting through to them though, I have a few unanswered calls and emails).

Stay positive and don't fret. You got two acceptances!

Hello!

I have been accepted last week in the Master of Arts in Political Science at McGill University but I applied to two different options, the Development Studies Option and the European Studies Option. At the moment, I have no information concerning my chances of being accepted in these options. Anyone has some information about the admission process in these concentrations? How does it work? How competitive is it?

I have also been accepted in the Master of Arts in Political Science at University of British Columbia and in the Maîtrise en science politique at Université de Montréal but I am likely to refuse those offers as McGill University is my top choice for the moment. I am only waiting for Sciences Po Paris now.

Thank you for your help and good luck to you!
