Just checked the application follow up page and it says that I am admitted to MA in IR/PS! However, the scholarship section states that I'm on the waiting-list. Did anyone get any more particular information on their scholarship decision?

Hi! I am also admitted to IR/POLS and received the decision about scholarships. But I am admitted at the first round of the applications. Maybe thats why you didn't get the decision yet.

For those who have been admitted, there is a Meet and Greet threat:

And if there are any new MIA people, there's a facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/319486788255506/?fref=ts :) Congrats to everyone who has been accepted!

I was admitted for the Law Faculty, International Law.

But my scholarship admission got refused on the first round! I am happy but it is a major problem for me. Without funding, I can't maintain myself there. =(

Very disappointing news, as I really wanted to study here. I don't mean to sound arrogant, but I really don't understand the decision or I need opinions. I'm 28 from the so called "global south" middle class family. At 17, I got a scholarship to study in Canada. Then in the US, I went to university. I have worked/lived in 5 different countries in the Americas, worked in conflict zones, have working experience with the UN system in NY, bilingual English-Spanish, I have publications that were even praised by a former UN rapporteur and several professors in US and UK universities. If the want PhDs or people with 7+ years of experience, then they should say it. Otherwise I don't know what you need to be in order to get an education here.

Hi! Thanks for your reply. Let's wait, that's something I'm used to now with the Institute, but, hopefully, they'll make the mind up before 15 April.

Honestly, I didn't think I understand you correctly. What do you mean?

I connected with some alumni in my area last fall before applying and they said that the administration could be a bit disorganized, generally friendly, but just not always responsive. Similarly said the career services office hadn't been very helpful and you should plan on finding internships/jobs on your own.

But these are hardly things unique to the Institute, plenty of universities (including my undergrad alma mater) have the same problem.

I was accepted into the Law Department (PhD), but I have to second the observations about the administration being a LLM student at the institute at the moment. As one of our Professors put it "There is a clear distinction between academic and administrative quality". As academics are excellent ...

Sad to hear! Maybe you were overqualified? I just wonder why they didn't offer us another program if we didn't suit to the one we applied, becasue there is such a policy in IHEID.

In any case, I want to CONGRATULATE all the ADMITTED ones, and hope they'd choose this chance fully!!!!!

Congratulations!!! I am sure you will find financing and would not lose that chance!!!!!! Would you mind if I ask you about your background work experience and GPA? I just want to figure out the reasons of the rejection of my application.

I will look for some scholarship sites I was sent by my friends and would share with you!

Best of luck

Thank you Mascha, It would help me a lot if you send me these site links! I appreciate your idea and willingness.

I hope my little biography helps you

I am from Brazil, South America. 29yo. I grew up in a background with financial hardships and little future choices. But I managed to be accepted into the Law Faculty of University of São Paulo, which is the best and most competitive in Brazil. There, my GPA was 8.1 out of 10. I took part in some extraclasses activies related to International Law.

During the graduation, I have been an intern for almost 4 years, so I have experience in several matters of law, namely civil, commercial, consumer, labour, administrative, m & a, banking and companies law.

I took another exam, this time to be a civil servant in the State Court of São Paulo, and I have three years of experience there, and I have been promoted twice. Now I work assisting a Higher Judge, i.e, a State Supreme Court Judge.

Just before July, I'll complete a Specialisation (Post graduation Lato Sensu) on International Law by the School of Magistrates of São Paulo.

Also, before graduation, I worked for two years as a graphic designer.

Summing up, almost 5 years of professional experience and 4 years as an intern.
