MissRyan Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I applied to both I/O and Organizational behavior programs, and have just received my first rejection email from UNC's Org behavior program. 70 applicants for 1 spot...ouch. One down, 11 to go! Thanks for the update Peter. Sorry it wasn't in your favor, but I am sure good news will come your way soon enough! I haven't heard anything yet....the waiting is torture! Good luck

I haven't heard anything yet....the waiting is torture! Good luck Thanks MissRyan! I heard admissions were going to be very difficult this year due to the budget cuts, but I didn't know it was going to be THIS bad. Good luck to both of us!
MissRyan Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Any updates from anyone?? Pretty quiet by me..

fuddy Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 I got an e-mail today from someone at GMU requesting to "chat about my application" over the phone tomorrow. I'm assuming that's a nice way of saying a phone interview. AAHHHHHHH FREAKING OUT.

I'm assuming that's a nice way of saying a phone interview. AAHHHHHHH FREAKING OUT. Congratulations, fuddy! GMU was one of my top choices for I/O, but decided to withdraw at the last minute. Who are you aiming to work for at GMU? They always have a strong presence at SIOP...fun group.

Who are you aiming to work for at GMU? They always have a strong presence at SIOP...fun group. Thanks so much for the support yall, I really appreciate it. Dr. Kaplan from GMU was calling to offer me admission (even though I was so prepared for an interview haha)! They won't know about funding packages for a few weeks and they have an accepted students' day on February 26th. I'm so surprised to hear something so early! Hoorah! =)
peterrr Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 anyone heard from Maryland yet? someone from social psychology posted that they received a university fellowship nomination. isn't the social psychology and the i/o program the same in Maryland?
mks483 Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Hey everybody, just found this site and think it's an incredible resource for all of us to chat as we find out what the next 5-7 years of our lives will hold! When does everyone expect to hear back from their respective programs? I've applied to 15 programs in total including: Penn State, Michigan State, Illinois, Purdue, Minnesota, Akron, Bowling Green, Maryland, George Washington, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, Colorado State, South Florida, Florida International, and George Mason (MA program). If anyone has any details on those programs, feel free to post them or pm me anytime! Quick question too: I never really emailed the programs to check if they've received all my app materials because I've been so busy and figured it wasn't too important. Do you all think I should email them just to check, or is it a bit late at this stage in the game?
fuddy Posted February 1, 2010 Author Posted February 1, 2010 I haven't heard from Maryland either... I think most of the programs I applied to e-mailed me when my app was complete or had a way to look it up online.
iopsych86 Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 i also haven't heard from maryland yet. hopefully this week we will all hear from more places!
MissRyan Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Mks- I think it would be a good idea to make sure they have received all of your application materials. Like Fuddy said, most places emailed to tell me if something was missing or if my application was complete. Good Luck and welcome to the forum! I also applied to Maryland...no word yet. I thought their I-O program was separate from their Social program. I hope to hear something (positive) this week! Jillybean, have you heard anything from PSU..?

mks483 Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Looks like a lot of us really want in to PSU...I haven't heard anything yet but I heard from a grad student there that they will be sending out notifications in the next 2 weeks. Good luck to everyone again, thanks for the info.

iopsych Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Hey everyone my classmates and I are working on a potential TIP article and have the data from each SIOP since 08. We are essentially trying to see who the most active schools are as far as research goes. We are breaking it down by university, but if each presentation/poster has more than one author from the same school that only counts as one. I have only finished a handful thus far but here is the list. 1. University of South Florida 128 2. George Mason University 127 3. Michigan State University 126 4. University of Central Florida 114 5. University of Minnesota 101 6. Pennsylvania State University 91 7. University of Maryland 85 8. Bowling Green State University 63 9. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign 59 10. Central Michigan University 32 I thought all of you may find this information useful when applying/deciding where to go as you can't always be sure how active each university is with research. This is all the data I currently have. If anyone wants me to look at a particular school let me know and I will try to get to it.
