There should be some, although almost none of them is purely Poli Sci. Check the deadlines of GPS (UCSD), Jaskson (Yale), CIR (Chicago), MAPSS (Chicago), QMSS (Columbia), etc. Also, if you are doing comparative, there are tons of area study Masters in the country as well.

Going to get a Master degree after getting rejected by all of your applied Ph.D. programs is definitely not ideal (so let's hope that it does not happen). But there are also plenty option left without leaving the US.

There are also plenty of later-application terminal MA programmes in Canada which are cheaper than their US counterparts, often come with TAships or other funding, and can really set you up for a better round of PhD applications after 1 or 2 years. I strongly recommend checking these out - they can make a huge difference both to the quality of your application & your understanding of the field/your research interests.

Who are the other Penn State admits? I can happily claim one of those admissions.

There are penn state admissions?

Congrats again, who sent the email from admissions or a department contact? I see no change on my online account.

It it muy be a cliché but damn the struggle IS real.

Any idea when official offers would come out? I feel that Penn was one of my strongest applications so pretty gutted if I'm headed to the rejection pile.

I am also getting worried.. Having applied to 15 schools, I have zero acceptance, and one rejection so far. Some of the schools that I have applied to have released at least some of their decisions (Northwestern, UNC, Illinois, Michigan State). Although my GREs are not stellar, they are decent for an international student (V:158,Q:162,W:5). Two of my three recommendation letters are from professors who are at the top programs and who know me well. I am thinking whether I made a mistake in my SOP, but I worked on them for three months with six different professors and all of them were satisfied with it. Maybe I need a break from thinking about the applications :)

Don't get too worried yet! You still have many decisions to wait for :)

Thank you very much, and the email was from admissions, though I should emphasize that it was informal. There is no change in my online account either.

I got this e-mail from UPenn recently that made my heart leap and then fall:

"Every admitted candidate to the Annenberg School for Communication is invited to attend our Prospective Student's Day March 18 as a guest of the school.   [...]
We hope to be in touch mid to late February with admissions decisions, but wanted you to save the date for now if you can so if you are admitted you do not have last minute notice

Thank you for your time
."

Uhm... now you make my heart fall because I didn't even get that email from UPenn...

Applied to 12. Heard from 0. Trying to be positive, I tell myself that no news is at least better than bad news.

So...

Same here... 15 programs, heard from 0 so far. I really want this one acceptance to come through asap so that I could relax a little.

Same! Applied to 10 programs, no responses so far. Still nervous about not having heard anything from Northwestern or Berkeley...

To be fair, I'm pretty sure the Berkeley responses were fake. Nobody has claimed them, some of the notes on the survey seem to target members here, and there are only, what? Three of them?

Applied to 18 programs, 1 admit and 1 reject so far - I can tell you that even though I have an option now I'm still super nervous. Especially considering that it's not one of my top-5 choices.

Fair enough! Maybe I'm just being delusional and would still keep worrying even with an acceptance in my pocket!

It's from the Communication department, I think because I chose pol comm as my subfield and/or selected an option to be considered there as well.

On the last Friday of January last year, Stanford, Berkley, and Chicago released their decisions. What about this year? Chicago probably (~80%) won't (AdCom haven't met frequently, according to someone's POI); Stanford probably won't (according to the website). So what about Berkeley? Any news/rumors?

What about Duke and WashU?

My feeling is that either tomorrow, or someday next week, will be THAT day.

Good luck to everyone! ;)

Yeah I think it wouldn't be a stretch to expect Duke tomorrow or Monday. They tend to release on the last day of January or first day of February. Last year a member of AdCom got injured and delayed the release a day or two. So I am hoping to hear from Duke. It is one of my top choices...if not my top.

I would also like to know if any rumors or news is out there about Berkeley. I'm working on finding out something in regards to Vanderbilt now.

If you find anything out about Vanderbilt, please share.

Same. Duke has some faculty whom I really want to work with, and its placement has been consistently good. Good luck!

I think it's consensus that the three Berkeley admits on the survey page were fake (and I think they were removed). So I think everyone has a fair chance, even though you did not receive "an email" to check your application on the website. Hopefully we will get some offers tomorrow and next week!

All Colorado boulder decisions not out yet. Emailed the coordinator. This is what she says. And "Also to keep a look out for the email regarding decision in near future".

The only positive for me right now is that my two rejections were my bottom choices. The one probable reject (Northwestern) really, really hurts though. I emailed a POI (not on the committee) and he said he wasn't sure about my status and directed me to the program director. I emailed her and haven't heard back. Neither of those are good signs. I also realize that I'm a little bit insane.

9 applications: 2 rejects, 1 probable reject, 6 more chances to be crushed. I'm just tired already.

I'm thinking a bakery with a beer/wine license. You can set up in front of my shop a couple times a week - you serve the food, I'll serve the booze.

It's nerve-wrecking that I'm between 6 and 9 hours ahead of all the unis and everyone here - I keep checking my emails and the forum, even though I know that nothing could have possibly happened since the last time I did because it's still 6am on the West Coast :P

Someone in the survey page said that UIUC did not even elaborate his/her application. Does anyone have any information about that case?
