It means you have been accepted for J/I, but not I/S

So since I can only see the J/I in ROSI under registration, is there a possibility that they are still looking at applications for the second round? I just don't want to lose hope lol

I'm not sure if they would still consider you for anything else? I'd call them tomorrow at some point and ask for sure! I'm not sure thegradcafe.com is the best source :P Just call the MT admissions department!

Out of curiosity, what was your application like? Like GPA/experiences?

Well, I called them today and they told me to wait because they might be still deciding. I graduated with a Bachelor's of Electrical Engineering Degree with a cgpa of 3.3. I applied to the I/S concentration with Physics and Math as my two teachables. I've also been volunteering at a high school for the past year for about 17 hours a week. I'm also part of a literacy program, and a part time physics/math tutor as well. The funny thing is that originally i applied for Math/ Physics, but had that changed to J/I for Math. Then, I requested to keep the I/S division that I originally applied for because i didn't know you could apply to more than one concentration for OISE applicants. None of these changes show up on UofT's SGS website, so there's actually no way I could confirm they have been changed. I've been accepted to the J/I program, but that I/S program is actually the one that I wanted. Although I did get into York for I/S, so I might go there if I don't get into UofT.

They have done their first round of admissions I believe! A whole bunch of us were notified around March 1st that our application status had changed through an email and on ROSI!

The liaison confirmed this with me, so first round offers are already out but they are going to continue to make offers she said....I am holding on to my last shred of hope haha. If you got invited on ROSI  where would it show up?

For mine it showed up right on the home page where it goes when you sign in. It previously said "no registration history", but then it changed to invited! Some people's statuses also say financially cancelled,  which also means they are invited just that their offer is conditional on their completion of an in-progress degree!!

Okay I am going to check regularly, thank you so much and congratulations!

I have a question for everyone, just because if I dont get in I will probably try again..Is anyone concerned with job prospects? Have they heard that it is changing at all? My aunt is a secretary for one of the schoolboards  and shes told me horror stories about teachers being on the supply list for 7 years.

Also what age is everyone here? I spent lots of time in my undergrad doing prerequisite courses for a grad school program (Speech Language Pathology) and so it took me a bit longer than expected, I am 24. I am just thinking if I dont get in this year, I will finish by the time I am 27.. then atleast 3 years minimum on supply list if you're lucky..I just want to make sure it is worth me trying again! I'd love to hear some input/success stories.

Thank you as well!!!

I'm not too concerned with job prospects, just because I wouldn't mind if I had to supply teach for awhile. It's good work, albeit different than having your own full-time classroom!

In terms of age, I'm 22 and my husband (who is going for the MT I/S program) is 23!

I am 24 too, you're not alone!  I am VERY stressed/overwhelmed/anxious about jobs (let alone choosing a school) but many people have said if this is your 'calling' you should not worry and you will eventually find one.  Also, there are many things you can be doing as a certified teacher other than supplying.  Because I feel that I'm a little bit older, Queens is very appealing to me as I could be on the supply list by next September! (as it goes through the summers)  I wouldn't limit your options to OISE (if you have), there are many schools out there just as good.

Also, I have a past coworker who is doing her masters in SLP at Dalhousie. Is that what you applied for?

yes I applied to SLP at UofT as well! ? again in terms of location u of t is one of the closest for me just for slp.but for teachers college I made the mistake of just applying to oise. But after I figured I didn't get I I started looking into more. I guess the actual difference is id just have to do a BEd and then masters (which for uoit is actually all online anyways) .

did you hear from oise yet ? Congrats on queens !!

Does anyone know how reputable York University is for Teacher's University? I'm planning to go to York for I/S in Mathematics and Physics.

From what I know, they do have a great Faculty of Education. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is their format for Practica - I believe you are only in-class in a placement one day per week, as opposed to being immersed in the school culture for a 4 week period, which is what OISE and some other colleges offer!

As someone currently enrolled in teachers college I have an outsider (while inside view) on job prospects. I'm currently in a two year program at an Ontario university in the first year.

I thought really long and hard about teachers college. The field is flooded with teachers and even with the changes to two years, the years of backlog will take a while to fix. What does this mean for you as an applicant, well that honestly depends on your teachable. Your aunt is correct but is is so dependent on so many factors.  There are different places to get information, OCT publishes a study every year and the new one just came out. The ETFO and OSSTF have information. You can join facebook groups (PM me, I will give you a list) of different teacher groups about careers.

Do not want to be a debbie downer but want to make sure everyone makes the best decision for their situation.

thank you so much for this..i am assuming it may be even more difficult for p/j since there's no teachable to set you apart. I'm assuming that's when AQs come in.

Please also check out my question:

Hey there! I replied to you on your thread "Applying to the OISE MT Program"!

Posted (edited)

Hey, has anyone received second round offers or even know whether there will be second round offers for Oise's MT program? I'm just trying to determine the chances of actually being admitted into the program.

I emailed the admin last week asking the same thing and they did say first rounds went out and they can't determine how many rounds there will be. But they did say offers are ongoing and that they hope I hear something in the near future so I'm going to assume offers are still going out ?
