Hello everyone, I have gotten into both UofT and the online University of Alberta course. I am currently working in the public library system in a very low position (page) but I enjoy it and I do not want to jeopardize my foot in the door in any. I haven't heard much good about the UofT program to be honest from recent grads. And it costs more than the UofA program. Both are accredited. My commute would be 2 hours so that would write me off for a couple of days of work and I am not sure my job will like that. My only issue is I have spoken only to one person who is in this online program (and she is quite positive about it), I wanted to know if anyone has heard anything about it? Or if the fact that it is online would hinder my future job prospects (even if it means I can get more experience)?

I am debating on whether to apply again and if its worth it if my gpa is still only 3.75. Anyone else trying again?

For those on the waitlist for U of T... they are evil. I have emailed the admissions team and they said that even when the program is filled and they are no longer accepting people off the waitlist they will not notify us until the end of summer.

Anyone waitlisters heard anything??? Still waiting on UofT !

hello! I am also a waitlister to uoft but have not heard anything. I think they begin two weeks after April 15th or something like that? I dont know if they've begun yet

congrats my fellow wait lister ! I was wondering the same thing..i think maybe ill call once they I see they start accepting people off the wait list. For now it seems like they're compiling people who agree to stay on wait list and waiting for people that have received acceptances . Unless you have another program that needs a decision I would wait a little.

hi speech bubble congrats on both your acceptances ! I was privileged to work with two SLPs who owned a therapy business. One went to western the other to uoft.apparently western is more paediatric focused and they have an in house clinic. Uoft is more adult/research focused and they have affiliations with lots of hospitals in the toronto area

From what I hear about Toronto, it appears more research intensive and focuses more on adults. At least that is what I have heard over the years. I don't know anything about McGill but I know a friend who got accepted to all and chose McGill.

Hey everyone, I was wondering since we apply mid semester, how do they know that we have actually completed our degree? Is this therefore a conditional acceptance? if you are going to graduate in Winter semester?

Don't worry I am in the same boat! I just wonder what they do if someone declines? Do they even have a waiting list? I don't know!

when I emailed the liason she said all offers were given out by email already.

I emailed the admin last week asking the same thing and they did say first rounds went out and they can't determine how many rounds there will be. But they did say offers are ongoing and that they hope I hear something in the near future so I'm going to assume offers are still going out ?

I also recall her mentioning it was moreso GPA rather than whether you did a honours degree or not. I unfortunately do not have the email though because I cleaned out my mailbox! But I double checked the 2015 forum where I asked people and all the responses said similar so I am a bit relieved

Ya I am not entirely sure if that applies to SLP programs as well.. but if it does they should definately write it on their website. I recall double checking with Mabel at UofT before I switched out of my honours and she said I didn't have to do a honours but she didn't mention whether it was preferable or not. Some people have gotten in without honours as well.

Does everyone here have a honours degree? I am applying without honours (but still same amount of courses as a honours, i did two years in a previous major) because the websites say you dont need one. I applied to teachers college as a backup and got rejected, when I asked them about it they said you dont NEED honours but those who have it are given preference and that if you dont have one they downgrade you average 25%.

I know a family member attended yorks teacher college and did not enjoy it.
