I applied for PhD entry, but most of the programs I applied to were combined MA/PhD programs. Maybe next year I'll try applying to the MA, even though it will kill me to write a second MA thesis.

You likely will not have to write another MA thesis. You have to apply for the MA, do the clinical MA coursework, but most schools will give you credit for the MA thesis you already completed.

I was accepted to UTSC Clinical Psychology. I received a phone call from Dr. Bagby, not Minnie. My interview was in person during the interview days on Jan 25/26.

Congrats!!

Thanks! Dr. Bagby isn't my POI, but he called because he's the chair. I haven't accepted the offer yet so I'd rather not say my POI - still have a few interviews, but I'm pretty certain I'll accept UTSC.

Hey,

Has anyone heard from U of Saskatchewan?

Nothing. I was thinking of emailing the graduate program assistant tomorrow to ask about the status of applications. They don't get many per year, so it shouldn't take this long to contact people.

I'm waiting on Saskatchewan too. Anyone hear from Calgary yet?

My friend has...I'm not 100% certain but it seems like interviews may have finished going out! She had a Skype interview with her POI and a phone interview with the director...she's supposed to hear a decision soon

Is this for Saskatchewan or Calgary?

Hi @Just_Waiting I applied to Lakehead, McGill, Dalhousie, Concordia and UNB. Eeee this waiting is intense and it seems interview invites have already gone out?

I emailed the coordinator for Lakehead and she informed me that successful applicants will be notified "within probably by the end of the month." They are still reviewing the applicants. I also found out that Lakehead doesn't have interviews.

Not all hope is lost! Fingers crossed!

For those applying to OISE Counselling and Clinical Psychology, faculty is meeting next week to make decisions. So some acceptances will likely go out next week (usually those are by phone call or e-mail), but OISE is known for also informing accepted applicants in April as well. If you don't hear back next week, do not lose hope at all as it can be any time from next week until even a bit after April.

POI at utsc told me that offers to a handful of applicnats have already gone out. I didn't make the cut ("yet".. :/ )

So that's two rejections for me. Waiting on ryerson at this point, which I've been told will have recommendations going on early this week.

Good luck everyone

I also already have an MA, but even if you apply to the MA level (which seems to be the easier way in) it doesn't necessarily mean you'll need to do another Thesis. My experience is that most schools will still consider you for entry into the PhD, you may just need to complete a year of make-up courses at the MA level. Of course, that varies by program and school.

Maybe that was my shortfall this year... I applied to all programs for PhD but my application would be very competitive for MA level.. hundreds of dollars later- lesson learned..
