KLZ Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 I declined GWU today. Very tough since it was a great fit. I work in 20th century us foreign relations.
KLZ Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Declined UNC-Chapel Hill. So many great things about the program. That funding, though...

KLZ Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 (edited) $15,700 for 5 years plus three years of summer funding (3k each). Its not a terrible offer, it just can't compete with my top offers -- one being down the road in Durham. Edited March 28, 2016 by KLZ clarification meo03 1

KLZ Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Modern US foreign relations. I applied for the global track, not the US history track. SunshineLolipops 1
knp Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 I just declined Penn, although oh how beautiful their stipend was compared to where I am going! I mean, my place's stipend is still fine, but Penn's vs. their COL was much better.

knp Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 I still haven't officially accepted, but I'm like 95% sure that I'm going to; two other places are still in the running (splitting the 5%), but Penn was not one.

Oh gotcha! An offer from Penn is impressive all the same! Congrats!

bettafish Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Declining my offer at UVA. Good luck everyone archersline 1

KLZ Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 I declined Georgetown. This was the most difficulty school to turn down. I loved so many things about the people and program. I really hope they admit someone from a waitlist (I believe they have one?). Again, I work on modern US foreign relations. Best of luck to those still waiting! April might get interesting.
OmyAmerica Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 I accepted an offer at UVA but never withdrew my application from Rutgers because I got no communication and assumed it wouldn't matter. They accepted me out off the waitlist (apparently) last week and I declined. Congrats to whomever gets the spot, the funding was good archersline 1
Danger_Zone Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 No idea if they have a wait list or not, but I just declined my offer from the University of Cincinnati. anxietygirl 1
herstory Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 I just declined Indiana University. They still plan to make offers in the next week. There may be some hope if you're on their "unofficial" waitlist.
bibliomancer Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Didn't want to post until I've made my mind about my top 2, but over the last three weeks, I've declined Illinois-Urbana, Washington-Seattle, and Wisconsin-Madison. Hopefully, if there are any waitlists, it would work out for somebody.
MastigosAtLarge Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 I declined UMD--College Park for MA. The professors were perfect for me, but I was worried about the size of the program and the fact that they said I had basically no chance of getting any funding. Boston College, where I accepted, gives TAs tuition remission and a yearly stipend, and the program is really small (they accept ~6 every year), so those who want to TA have the chance. the_flying_k Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Not sure if this helps anyone at this point, but I declined UT-Austin, the University of Delaware, and the University of Connecticut late on April 13. I declined the University of Minnesota on the evening of April 15. Hopefully someone will benefit from at least one of these slots.
DCguy Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 It is amazing to me how many good schools I saw that you guys are declining. I know everybody has a good reason. You guys are all better applicants than I ever was apparently. I love my school, don't get me wrong (especially now that I'm done with coursework). I wish more of you had explained whether you were declining PhD or MA in those programs Reaglejuice89 1
