It was a Star Wars themed one at Disney World and being the huge SW fan that I am, I had to go. I plan on doing it again next year. The weather was pretty cooperative and I really couldn't have asked for better conditions considering it was in Florida. A few of my last training runs in Oklahoma had higher humidity at about 80%...that was brutal. Between temps in the 60s when we started (5am) and humidity at about 50% if I recall correctly, it really wasn't bad. The only bad part was that there was some bad bottlenecking at a couple of spots and some walkers who did not honor the etiquette of moving to the right...forcing many of us to weave around them. I've always thought it charming when I've gone to other states during the summer. They'll have extreme heat advisory warnings in the low 90s with low humidity. As someone who's lived in Oklahoma for his entire life, I thought it was balmy! On 6/3/2016 at 3:26 PM, Cat_Robutt said: Did you dress up??? But when you have summers that can go upwards of over 100 and does not cool off in the evenings and you have constant heat advisories telling people to not go outside, and everything is dead from the lack of rain, and there's not a lot of shade because it's a prairie state...even dry heat becomes unbearable. It makes me really happy to be moving back to Florida. I can handle the humidity, especially when a lovely afternoon shower helps to cool things off. We have found Florida summers to be much more tolerable than our Oklahoma ones. Unless it rains, you mean. Then it's terrible! About 15 years ago we had a summer with over 40 days over 100F. I remember walking outside when the heat index was 120F. It was terrible! I read heavily for a few days and these thread really takes off! I'll have to work harder to keep up! They aren't too bad. Most of them are almost harmless, assuming you're not outside. And the really huge storm systems are predicted well-enough in advance that everyone knows what's coming. 54 minutes ago, Need Coffee in an IV said: Yeah I go in the opposite direction of tornadoes! Many local channels tend to sensationalize the dangers because they get a lot of ad revenue during severe weather. OU's dedicated meteorologist has been far more helpful, for me. Maybe thats why in the email they said that I had to apply for another fellowship/grant instead of saying I had to secure one. Btw has anyone gone to a fellowship reception? Is that kind of event business casual or more formal? I know its not back tie but I would like to know if I have to get a cocktail dress. Of course I can just wait but I like planning! Yeah, Oklahoma temps stay high, all throughout the night. I've known backpackers to complain about backpacking in the summer. In most places, you'll get at least a 30-40 degree drop at night. As far as I'm concerned, that's absolutely fantastic. I've done a lot of camping in Oklahoma, and rarely is it fun in the summer.

Mine do and I've no clue how to help that! You need a really good eye makeup primer. You apply it, keep your eyes closed for a few minutes while it sets, and then apply your eye makeup. Always use waterproof products whenever possible. There are also eye makeup setting solutions, but I've never needed these when using waterproof products. 8 hours ago, hippyscientist said: What's your thoughts on school-branded hoodies? Like I'll be loading up on Penn State stash but I wonder about undergrad places. I love both hoodies from my prior universities but I can't wear them where I currently am because of school rivalry but I'd like to keep them in my closet! I see people wearing other schools sweatshirts at universities all the time. I don't think its a huge deal unless there's a big sports game or there's a clear rival university. I prefer to leave them for the gym or working in a not so clean environment. Cat_Robutt

rhombusbombus
The bareminerals complexion rescue gel is sheer to light/medium coverage. Very buildable, but won't cover a super dark spot as much as a full foundation will. But, it wears like a dream and holds up to sweat! I'll be so ready to not have to deal with a Georgia Summer. It's been high 90s AND humid. I feel like I'm drowning everytime I step outside. Please, Pennsylvania, give me sweet weather release!

MarineBluePsy
Wow today I cooked the last items in the freezer. It's so weird having it empty and not planning my next bulk shopping trip. So since I should actually start packing things I'll be shipping, anyone have any tips? I just realized I never pay attention to how things are packaged when I order them. Why are there so many types of packing tape? Are packing peanuts better or bubble wrap? I do like to pop those bubbles. What kind of boxes are best for textbooks? I'll need to come up with a detailed labeling system so I know whats in each box. Are there special boxes for glass? Or will labels be sufficient? Can computers melt at certain temperatures? I'm pondering taking it with me on the drive, but I'll have to go through the desert at some point. Can it melt in the trunk? I don't think the a/c reaches the trunk. So something like that could possibly happen. I don't think heat is generally good for computers, though. I'm also wondering about how to ship things. I'm thinking about taking most of my clothes with me and getting my books shipped, but it's going to be really pricey if shipping charges go by weight. I'm not sure if it's best to ship a few heavy boxes or multiple lighter ones. I'm going to the post office this week so maybe I can ask about what to do! When I looked, it was cheaper to pay for excess baggage on the airline than it was to ship my stuff. Might be worth considering too. Shipping is great if you're moving a whole house + vehicle but I don't have enough stuff to justify the cost of a box. Seriously a small book box was gunna be ~ $500.
