How do you know if you're waitlisted? Do universities tell you?

Typically, yes.

At this point, finding out I am on the wait list and wait list would be great news!

 

I know people have been accepted and rejected. I have heard nothing.

I am currently on seven waitlists and all seven of the colleges emailed me and told me I was waitlisted. Not all schools do though!

Yeah, seems schools do it one of two ways (the only two ways possible I guess, haha). They tell you, which might risk you feeling slighted (lol) and being less inclined to accept an eventual offer. Or they don't tell you, which might make it feel more like just an acceptance if you are eventually accepted, but it's still obvious if you're paying attention because those acceptances will be after 4/15. I do think it's interesting that some schools tell you and some don't! I'm curious about what goes into each school's particular decision in that regard.

Yeah some don't, I am assuming I am waitlisted for Howard because I have heard nothing from them. So some schools tell you and some just keep you holding on for deal life. I want to think of waitlist as gentle rejections. lol
