TWU TETN Cycle 9

are you guys using the twu.edu email domains as your primary emails? Or are ya'll using personal emails?

HI all, 

I got wait listed for cycle 9, region 20. But Im curious to see if everyone that didn't get accepted got wait listed or did they also send out denial emails?

 

Also, what are the chances you actually come off of the wait list?!?

I got accepted for region 2. My acceptance letter was emailed to my TWU email, which I didn't even know I was suppose to be checking. I just saw the acceptance email on friday. I had nothing sent to my personal emails.

  I've known people to be accepted into grad programs after being wait listed. It depends on how many of the people accepted, reject their slot.  What I don't know if there is particular order of the wait list..

@Kim08 were you a TWU undergrad? How did you know to set up a twu.edu email?

@Mari_pink no I wasn't a TWU undergrad. I just signed into the pioneer portal, clicked on WebAdvisor and log in. Then, there is an icon that says applicant on the right hand side and once you click it there will be an option to check your email on the right hand side. It will take you through the steps to set it up if you have not.

@Speechiegirl12 and everyone else:  What happened to her friend just happened to me!  Miracles can happen.  I was just accepted into the program for Region 12.  It pays to call and double check things ladies and gentleman.  You never know what they might have wrong.  

This was my 4th time applying for grad schools. Don't give up!!  If you don't get in, call ask how you can make your packet stronger and take all your prerequistes!

@Mari_pink I did hear back, I got accepted. I was just saying, if I hadn't been accepted, I would have immediately called TWU like my co-worker did a couple of years ago   My co-worker also spoke to Laura Moorer-Cook, so @baylorbear25 is correct, she is the person to contact! Melissa Stockholm is also a good person to talk to. I know she's on the committee, but I don't think she has as much of a say as Laura Moorer-Cook does.

Don't give up! If you call and they still don't let you in, at least you tried! But I really think that they appreciate those who make an effort to contact them. And it gives you that second chance for them to look at your application and yours only. I've heard rumors from grad students that they have a "points system", so highlight things like helping your supervisor administer tests, being an SLP Assistant, visiting TWU's clinic, etc.

@SarahT: I have connections with Fort Worth ISD, but I'm debating if I should look into Mansfield ISD since they are a good school district. Mansfield is a lot closer to me than Fort Worth too, but I don't know if it's worth not having the connections I already have with Fort Worth. What about you?

My son goes to Midlothian ISD and I know they have sponsored TETN SLP students before. I also have contacts at a few other districts. I'm still nervous about finding sponsorship. I'm wondering how hard it is to get a district to sponsor you. Do you know if anyone has anyone set up a facebook group for cycle 9 yet?

I work for a school district that has sponsored students for the last 3-4 cycles.  Congrats @Speechiegirl12 and Sarah T!!  I haven't seen one but I can set it up!

@JoD3o, I received an e-mail on Thursday with my acceptance, I did not call.

@SarahT, I don't think you should worry about finding sponsorship! I've spoken with TWU and they said that everyone has always found someone to sponsor them. TWU is willing to help us out too, if we can't find anyone. They said the only time someone wasn't sponsored was this girl that lived in Crowley. TWU got her sponsored in Fort Worth ISD, but she wanted Crowley ISD... even though Crowley wasn't available to sponsor anyone. So, she gave up her spot. Crazy right?!

Has anyone received any information after sending the acceptance form to Sue Colton? I need to take a spring course before May.

I got a "thnx" email back from her when I emailed it in today.  I did use my TWU email so you might check that email too.

All  I got was a thnx reply too. I was just hoping to get more information so I could be better prepared for spring semester. I wanted it out of the way before Christmas. I guess I am going to have to wait.

where did they indicate that you had to take a course before may? I'm pretty sure that I had all the courses needed but I'm also paranoid that I may be missing something and I'll find out once it's too late.  The email that had the info seemed generic in the sense that it said we had to complete the courses if I had not already done so.

There was a list of courses on your acceptance e-mail. It was a generic list that's required, but they didn't specify if you still lacked any. I think I have all my courses, but I'm also paranoid that I'm missing something!

What classes is everyone still needing??
