I like the cooper wire stuff to, the one I laughed at was 'device' haha

Thanks you!! "Device" was made as part of an iron pour residency, it was really fun to see who knew what it was :)

I posted a link to my website once over at the MFA Freakout forum, but I thought I'd post it again over here.

I only applied to Hoffberger, which in hindsight was pretty stupid, but it was the only school I really liked. I got waitlisted, which I guess is better than getting a flat out rejection, but all the spots filled up. I'm pretty bummed, but I'm still painting. That's all you can do, I guess. Just keep working.

If any of you guys want to form a crit group on facebook or anything like that, I'm totally down. I think it would be a fun way to network.

If anyone is interested, message me at kn1187@gmail.com

Also, here's my site:

Do you know Hung Liu's work? She's personally one of my favorite artists and an all around fabulous person. Y'all have similar style (aside from subject matter). She teaches out at Mills College near San Francisco. Google her if you're interested, it might be a place to consider for the next batch of applications.

I wasn't familiar with her work before, but I'm certainly a fan now. Thanks for introducing me to her.

I'm trying to stay along the east coast, but if my plans change within the next year, I'll definitely consider Mills College.

Thanks, man. Good luck at Rutgers!

That's me! everyone on here rocks, btw.

I'm fond of the brutally "human" colors in your work, as if your models are bruised under fluorescent lights. I wouldn't use the word garish because it has such a negative connotation. I think using such a palette adds to the realism of your content, evoking sensations of abuse or even subjugation. Sort of reminds me of the man-dominates-the-weaker-sex cultural stigma, but it's turned on its head considering the cross-gender associations in your work.

I've been lurking for a while, but as I am considering applying for grad school this year, I might as well introduce myself.

My practice is a little different. I am the Founder and Chief Researcher of the Institute of Morphoid Research. I make completely fictional creatures and study them as if they're real. If you want to see what I mean, here are my links.

I've enjoyed seeing all your work, thank you for sharing! (Some of it is a little intimidating, so I've been hesitant to share what I do.)

IMO, the strongest aspect of your work is the self-created psuedo-science mythology. You build your own context through which the pieces are to be viewed, and the Institute counterpart seems like an almost obsessive-compulsive medium for the work to be seen in its "natural" location.

Cool.  I like the Morphoid things.  They are pretty awesome.  They remind me of Pokemon characters.

I like the idea behind it all.... the psychology of it.  : )
