I'm looking into application deadlines for Florida grad programs in February of 2018, and NOVA popped up (taking the GRE in Dec). The main campus seems to be in Fort Lauderdale, with others in Orlando, Miami, etc. They don't require the GRE according to edfind, but they also receive upwards of 900 applicants each term!! Does anyone actually go here?! It's like this mystery school and I'm hoping to find any relevant info. Thanks for the help!

Yes, this is a real school. I tried to apply but I didn't have my prereq's completed so they wouldn't even look at my application. I wanted to go there because they are doing some amazing work with AAC. Their program is VERY competitive. It is definitely worth emailing them and asking them more information!

Thanks for your help! I requested an appointment, and received an email back that the person who would be meeting me was not available. When I replied to reschedule, I got no response back. Bummer! I would keep trying but I live in CA. We'll see what happens, I am applying!

I'm applying to the distance program and wondering if I should even bother based on experiences like this that applicants have discussed.  I'm anticipating them discarding my application due to nitpicking my prereqs.  @Steph_slp It's definitely a real school haha, I'm originally from South Florida and am familiar with the Davie campus... my family still lives near Ft. Lauderdale so I guess on the off chance I do get in, attending orientation won't be an issue...

They seem to put a lot of weight on the personal essays, which makes sense since they don’t require GRE scores. If I were you @Rowboat47, I might just fork over some extra cash and meet with a writing specialist to create top notch letters. Even if they’re still nit-picky with the prereqs, those letters will serve you well for other programs anyway. Might as well give it a shot! Especially since you’re not too far from the school itself. Best of luck to you, and thanks for weighing in! :)

Does anyone else here do the distance program? I'm really interested in AAC but live in MD and can't go out of the state for personal reasons.

I heard their program is 3 years full time, does anyone know if this is true?

@futureslp17 Their program description says it's three years of evening courses so students may also work. And that classes are offered a couple of nights per week, either in person, online or hybrid. I'm not 100%, but that is what I read on the site!
