    I think it depends on the kind of strengths/qualities you're looking for an employer to comment on. Sending an employer your statement of purpose is a great idea - it will give them a sense of what your grad school and eventual employment goals are (i.e., which population you'd ideally like to work with), which can help them better frame their letter. In terms of your academic performance, that could potentially be an area that they could comment on if they took a look at your transcript, but they may not be qualified to comment on academics in the sense of capacity to succeed as a graduate student in the same way that an instructor could. I asked 2 professors and 1 former supervisor to write letters for me. My professors covered academics, and I asked my supervisor to focus more on qualities that would be transferable to the field of SLP that she observed when I worked in her department (i.e., interpersonal skills, leadership skills, organizational skills, etc.). I provided her with an updated CV (including shadowing/volunteer work) and my statement of purpose. Let me know if you have any other questions!

    I'll be attending UConn in the fall - so excited! I actually want to make a Facebook group but I don't know anyone who's attending to add to the group. Any future Huskies out there?

    I earned my Bachelors and Masters (in Linguistics) from UF, and later took all of my post-bacc CSD coursework online from UF as well. I feel that all of my CSD coursework has prepared me well to start grad school in the fall - the professors are excellent. I lived in Gainesville for 6 years and would be happy to answer any miscellaneous questions about the area for you - as college towns go, I found it to be lively and fun (even if college sports aren't your cup of tea), and in recent years has gotten even better with new restaurants, shopping, etc. I am less familiar with Chapel Hill, although I did live in the Triangle area several years ago and it definitely has much to offer. Best of luck to you as you make your decision - for what it's worth, if I didn't live in CT I would have loved to go back to UF for my third degree haha.

    It is my understanding that in order to receive their CCC's, one must complete a master's program in SLP, complete their CF (Clinical Fellowship) within 2 years of earning their degree, ensuring that they have earned a total of 400 clinical clock hours under the supervision of a licensed SLP, and earn a passing score on the Praxis exam. The process of applying for state certification varies by state.     There was a link to view the admissions letter below the "decision available" statement. Fwiw, my last name is at the beginning of the alphabet so hopefully the decisions keep being released.

    I just checked the UConn Hobson portal and there was a decision available! I haven't received an email yet but I happened to be checking the portal.

    @justspeechie On Friday I was notified that I was accepted to the Distance Education program at ECU, but I think that several on-campus applicants were notified on Friday as well. Best of luck to you!

    Looking at last year's results, they first started notifying students immediately before spring break and continued during the week of spring break. So if they're going by the same general timeline this year, we MIGHT hear something by the end of this coming week or during spring break (3/12-3/16). Fingers crossed we hear back soon

    It says something to the effect of 'if you choose to accept this offer of admission, please notify us to obtain deposit info.' There's a letter coming via snail mail too, so hopefully it contains a deadline/more info. Thanks so much!

    Bumping this post for Fall 2018 applicants. I was accepted to Sacred Heart yesterday (yay!) but am still waiting on results from UConn and Southern Connecticut State, hopefully within the next several weeks. In the meantime, there is a deposit for Sacred Heart that I am willing to pay to save my spot, but the wording of the acceptance email made it sound like paying the deposit equals a formal commitment to attending the program (as opposed to a way to save your place while waiting for other admissions results). I'm hoping others can shed some light on this... I'm incredibly excited to have been accepted, but I want to make sure I have all of the information I can before making a final decision about which school I'll attend.

    Best of luck to you, fellow nutmegger! My scores are very similar to yours, and I hear you on the frustration of not being able to submit a personal statement to UConn and Southern. Hoping something great happens for both of us

    Hey! I applied to UConn as well - based on admissions results from previous years on this site, I'm guessing we will hear back after spring break next month. It would be amazing to hear from them sooner, though

    I have an interview coming up and I'm planning on wearing what I have worn for job interviews in the past... dress pants, dressy flats, a blouse, and a blazer. I think a skirt with a blouse and sweater/blazer or a dress with sweater/blazer would work as well. I'm sure tights are fine (I'd go with plain ones in a dark color personally) - and I hear you, Connecticut in February isn't much different Best of luck to you!

    @evf Thank you so much, your insight is much appreciated! This interview sounds like it will be very different from the job interviews I've had (particularly the problem-based learning part), but should be a good experience regardless.

    According to the programs page on CSDCAS (https://portal.csdcas.org/csdcasHelpPages/participating-programs-2/index.html), it looks like Boston University requires that your application be completed by 1/1/18. Hope this helps for any other programs you're applying to as well!

    I'm applying to the distance program and wondering if I should even bother based on experiences like this that applicants have discussed. I'm anticipating them discarding my application due to nitpicking my prereqs. @Steph_slp It's definitely a real school haha, I'm originally from South Florida and am familiar with the Davie campus... my family still lives near Ft. Lauderdale so I guess on the off chance I do get in, attending orientation won't be an issue...
