Good Sign, Omen or Hallucination - All Are Welcome!
LndscpDsign replied to Eager's topic in Waiting it Out
I was so pumped I was supposed to hear back from my last two schools by today. The first department changed last night from end of February to end of march. A friend called my other choice dept and they said they had finalized "all" decisions yesterday and will be notifying applicants sporadically over the next few weeks, only notifying a few per day. I'm starting to think Im making this up.. Maybe I'll wake up soon. -
I'm annoyed now :/. My department posted on their website that unofficial decisions would be emailed out by the end of February. A little bit after midnight last night the message changed and now it's says by the end of march. I was getting so excited too haha.

Well I think a good sign in terms of hearing back, My top choice school is reporting results for half of the master programs in its specific department(my masters is in the half that isn't reporting according to this site). They also updated the department website saying unofficial acceptances will be going out by the end of February via email. These next three days are going to be killer. -
What time of day do acceptance/rejection emails come?

Just an update I spoke with my department and everything is correct now and my official acceptance is in the mail . They still want me to decide by march 22nd I guess because they are offering me a scholarship. Hopefully this week is good news for everyone here too! I know how stressful the wait is! -

So I've been having many dreams about one of my schools the past few nights. And I think I just got accepted? I recieved an email with a PDF saying I was admitted and to please respond by march 22nd. Ten minutes later I receive an email saying to "please disregard the previous email because there was an incorrect date on it" So I think I'm still accepted and just that the response date was wrong? I hope so otherwise it would suck if they were like "haha jk you didn't get in at all" Also it came from my deptartment not the general admissions. And it came about 3 weeks earlier than they said it would. Hopefully a good start to my birthday! (Which is Saturday) -

FYI USC does the same thing. You get a PIN to log on to do your application and after you submit the application you get a USC student id later(got mine in ten days). But your case may be different entriely. USC stated that all applicants will get school ids after they submit an app. -

My USC app status is still "submitted" I had it in close to two months ago lol. Along with my two other apps. I was starting to think the only status was "submitted"

Oh believe me I wish I had a range of when it will start too. All of my apps status still say "submitted" and my deadlines were almost two months ago. I'm too scared to call though. I've seen how an annoyed/grumpy/mad admissions officer can influence how your app is viewed lol. So right now I'm using the "leave and let live" tactic hahaha.

I'll play the devils advocate, I work in admissions for my campus job so I see all of this(and occasionally deal with it) all the time. I know the admissions officers find it extremely taxing to take these calls because ultimately it's taking them away from reviewing the files. Also I know lots of people are hearing back with decisions, but it's still very early in the season. I know I won't be hearing until mid to late march, if not early April. Don't wanna be a negative nancy but remember the people looking at your application are only human and I watch them take applications home with them after work, stay up most of the night, and review on weekends because they understand how important this is to you.

Accepted: new laptop since after 5years of undergrad this one is shot haha. And going to the bars. Rejected: going to the bars. Lol. Finding a job.

I have a 3.4. But I think I'm the exception to the rule because I'm in a creative field( I'm getting a bfa and bs in landscape design for undergrad). I applied to Harvard, uc Berkeley, and USC. Harvard GSD is the only one with specific requirements saying most admitted have a 3.4. But I have a crap ton of outside the classroom experiences so hopefully that helps. I'm in the dark with the other two. I'd love to go to Berkeley, I flew out there in the fall to visjt(I'm from the east coast). So I think the grad admissions guy was impressed when I talked to him about coming that far to visit. But we'll see. I won't hear until the end of march. Maybe we'll go to USC together haha!

Also keep in mind that not all departments do post application invites and interviews. For instance my program at all three schools I applied to(see sig) specifically state no interviews will take place and that you just submit your application and the next thing you hear is your decision. I even looked back a few years on the search to see if interviews happened. Dunno if that's your case but something to think about.
