  1. It kinda seems that CS Departments take their decisions more slowly than other STEM departments. I see all kinds of STEM programs in the results search, barely any CS. Wish I could fast forward to March!
  2. Barely any Canadian universities in the results search. This is gonna be a long wait!
  3. CS adcoms like to take their time deciding.... Did anyone apply to M.Sc. programs?
  4. It seems that canadian universities like to take their sweet time with the decisions!
  5. I just finished my applications this week and I've got nothing to do but to wait, so getting a job in the meantime sounds like a good idea. If I get a job and get accepted to any of the universities that I applied to, I'd be able to work 6 months at most. The thing is that I don't know if I should mention this to my possible employers in the interview process (which might destroy my possibilities of being hired) or just not mention it and if I get the job quit after 6 months in the case that I get accepted to grad school (which might make me look like a fool) So, should I try getting a job?
  6. Right now, recently done with my bachelor's, I could have gotten a job but I decided to spend this time preparing for my applications. Of course I'm thinking on getting a job while waiting it out (until Fall 2013), but I'm afraid that it won't be a great one thanks to the fact that, in case of being admitted to graduate school, I will be able to work at most 5 or 6 months, and employers may not like that. If I'm not admitted anywhere, a few months of my life may have had gone down the drain... and just thinking about it really sucks. So yeah, I'm starting to get nervous about not being accepted anywhere, anyone else with similar thoughts?
  7. Totally not agree with this, they do have "too hard" problems, but they are labeled very hard and they are just a few. Magoosh is the perfect choice for those rusty in math and for those who want a deep bank of practice questions.
  8. Most universities ask for the scores of a single test, so I'm not sure if mixing information between scores might be a good idea. I'd just pick the best overall score. Or maybe list both tests scores if you can.
  9. I'm in a similar situation but with my TOEFL scores, I sent them before I started my applications and the universities haven't processed them. They also have been taking forever to reply to my emails (weeks) which is frustrating. I understand that they may be getting flooded by emails in this time of the year, but still..
  10. The university I'm applying to asks for two of them. I'm an international student from a non-english speaking country so I have no idea what a degree certificate is (and there's nothing named like that in what my university provides). Can anyone please give me a brief description of what a degree certificate looks like or the information it has?
  11. Well, if you feel that you would be happier at PSU, might as well make the change. By the way, How's Waterloo for Grad School? I'm applying there for Fall 2013 admission (Master's), hoping to do software engineering research as well, although I'm guessing you're doing more formal methods related work.
  12. Yup, get enough sleep. I think not having rested enough was one of the factors for my mediocre GRE scores.
  13. As long as the programs of those schools interest you, I don't see any problem. Of course, it wouldn't be cheap to apply and each professor that you ask for a LOR would need to do 15 letters, but these are minor issues.
  14. Hello, longtime lurker here, After about a month of preparation for the GRE I managed to only get a 151Q, it feels terrible because I was doing way better in practice exams, I don't really know what happened and now I feel like a piece of crap. The thing is that one of the universities that I want to apply to, states that successful applicants get a minimum score of 155Q. So what do I do now? They are already getting the 151Q score in about 15 days (the time ETS takes to mail the results). Another university has an application deadline of December 1st, and the earliest I can repeat the exam is November 15th, so that means that the results probably wouldn't get in time. So what do I do now? I feel terrible
