  1. Thank you for your kind responses. The process is very confusing!
  2. English. Yeah, we are automatically considered. I've been reading the ISSS information and it seems as if this information is required only in the event that I receive an offer.
  3. I'm 35 this year. I think I'm a little older than you! It just worries me.
  4. I'm petrified. I'm wondering whether I'll be considered too old to submit again.
  5. Thanks, it's just so frustrating because the application was due yesterday.
  6. I am applying as an International. Application sent. Yay! I went back to the site yesterday and noticed new documentation sections. These were clearly added in the last week. "All accepted international applicants must document their ability to meet all educational and living expenses for the entire period of their intended study before this university can issue a Certificate of Visa Eligibility (Form I-20 or DS-2019). This form can be downloaded from the following webpage: http://wings.buffalo.edu/intled/admissions/FFSGR2013.pdf" "Admitted International students must submit original bank statements or documents from financial supporting agency with English translation for the minimum required of first year of study." I know this is self-explanatory. I'm a bit confused as to why this is on my application. Someone assure me that the above documentation is required only in the event that I am offered an admission.
  7. Maybe just flick them an email, explaining the situation. I agree that is very frustrating.
  8. I'm pretty gutted that I know now that I will not be considered for fellowships. If I'd known that information to begin with, I wouldn't have applied to that one institution. Oh well. What will be more gutting, however, if I am not accepted anywhere.
  9. The process has been incredibly frustrating. It seems everytime I visit the departments' websites, additional information is added. Not helpful when I have already submitted by apps.
  10. I have finished my applications. Ticked all the boxes. I'm wondering whether I need to make make additional funding applications. All my programs provide full funding. A couple of instutitions I had to fill in forms, a couple said applicants were automatically considered. A couple just said all incoming students receive funding. I'm a little apprehensive since, as a foreigner, I'm not sure about all the ins and outs of American funding. I've done my research but now that I have completed the applications, my mind is going overtime - "Have I missed anything?" Anyway, is this normal, that you are automatically considered? And yes, I'll speak to the departments in question.
  11. Discrimination screams at me. Seriously, if an institution starts discriminating based on age, they might as well go whole hog and deny women, internationals, LGBT, etc.
  12. Buy the barron books and ETS books. Get powerprep. Really you have to practice it.
  13. Lost my mind, and my hair.
  14. But then again, if you have an amazing SOP, and LOR, you might be just fine...
  15. My gut is, if you can retake, then do. I suspect that while GRE is not the be all or end all, institutions will potentially use it to weed out low scores.
  16. Scores are usually delivered electronically twice a week, you'll be fine. If you are concerned just flick an email to the department.
  17. Thank you! I'm learning spanish, but I am very keen on picking up Russian. Thanks so much.
  18. Best of luck. Are you Russian? I'm wanting to learn it; would you know of any online courses?
  19. What program did you end up getting into, Ablukov? Most places have allowed me to suss it out. I'm still self-flagellating, however.
  20. I would email a query. This happened to me. I have always requested transcripts to be couriered that way I have a tracking number and I can check that it has been delivered and as well as see who exactly has signed for them.
  21. My SOP is fine. The sample is 24 pages (including bibliography). Everything else is fine. I'm just so frustrated. And exhausted. Thus far, two places have allowed me to make changes. Do you think it's worth mentioning anything to the insitutions where I made snail mail applications. The problem is, I'm not sure whether the errors have applied to those applications since I'm not sure where the PDF conversion problem occurred. Also, I am an international so I find it a little confusing as to who I should directing my inquiries to change this: the Graduate Admissions or the Department in question.
  22. If you are self-funded. That puts you in good stead.
