Calm down. It's not even Feb yet. One rejection does not equate a white out. -
I'm up to my final chapter and it's incredibly frustrating to the point where I am constantly in tears because I can't seem to express anything. I'm going to do some purge writing today (just to write something).

Success is always built on the success of others. Networking is critical and I guess, in my career in a competitive industry, my rapid promotions always came by nurturing others - recognizing other people's skills and acknowledging where I was weak in order to better myself. Someone else will always be faster, smarter but the key is always to network. And if you want to be an educator at tertiary level, then you are going to have to a level of humility, without the envy, in order to be the kind of educator that inspires. At least that's just my humble opinion. I've got one book publication (different field) and that success was down to other people helping me. It's wonderful that people are getting in. Sometimes it's all about fit. Sometimes it's all about the moolah. Sometimes it's all about that one advisor not having a spot for another student. -
What do you do when you are struggling with your thesis. I can't write When I do write it is garbage I don't know what to say

I saw that, cheeses (sounds like Jesus). I wonder if they send admits on Mondays and Fridays? -

Program Specific Questions - Fall 2013

Hmmm, an international student has gone crazy on the results board. (It's not me, for the record.) Edited to add: nevermind. It has been moderated. -

You know what you do if you're not accepted? You apply again. You don't give up. Never gonna give you up Never gonna let you down Never gonna run around and desert you Never gonna make you cry Never gonna say goodbye Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you -

I'm 99.99 per cent sure that I am not going to get in anywhere. I've just had nothing but bad luck since January the 1st. -
It looks as if there is only a 24 hour delay between application to the university and one's acceptence. Credit card details appear to be submitted before "acceptence" which possibly means the scammers have already debited the credit card upon notification of admission. Sad.
-
It's sad for sure, for any international out there, be aware of "universities" with .com or .org addresses. Accredited American universities should have a .edu extension.
-
This is a cross post from the graduate board. I was scanning the admissions results when Patriot Bible University popped up. Something didn't ring true to me, so I googled it. The obvious give away is the .com and .org extensions on the homesite. And sure enough, wikipedia states it is uncredited and possibly a diploma mill. http://en.wikipedia....ible_University To that person who submitted those results, please, please check them out first BEFORE you pay for your tuition. I may be wrong but I thought you should at least investigate the possibility! Good luck.

Who Wants To Bet On Acceptances/Rejections?
Porridge replied to DontHate's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
I think this conversation needs come from a place of open mindedness. Language matters. I am not an American. "Pedigree" is a rather insulting term in my country. Others have clarified what it implies in American English. I understand now the context in which it was meant. -

Well, that's a causal fallacy if ever I have seen one. "University X hires A. A comes from university B. Therefore University X will only hire from university B." If you can provide me with some genuine evidence then, there might be something to your observation. But really, anything else feels like speculation. I really don't what such statement as "pedigree matters" serves other than to scare off potential candidates (competitors) to your own perceived benefit. -

I would like to know how you have drawn to the conclusion that "pedigree matters". Is this a legitimate statement, or something that you have observed, have an inkling of? Because I find such statements incredibly hard to believe at face value. Indeed, the idea that a well-respected graduate committee would even consider "pedigree" is rather insulting to their criticial expertise, scholarship, and reputation. -

Looks like that Buffalo is already sending out interview requests. At least according the results section.
