  1. What are you still doing on this website?!
  2. In my case, he will be a general student from the same area. But I don't have a POI anyway.
  3. For interview weekends, most of my programs assigned a current student to pick me up from the airport, show me around the city/campus, and in some cases host me overnight. Is any sort of gift customary?
  4. One of my interview offers said upfront that "most" invitees will be accepted. Another school, from what I have heard, will accept around half. Just two data points for you.

  6. I'm not sure about this. One of my programs accepted me and then told me my POI was not accepting new students, but that I could work with other faculty with similar research interests.
  7. Got an official acceptance letter today! (Ohio State, quantitative)
  8. ^ That's very helpful! Thank you for taking the time to write it all out. I will look into each school's policy and ask.
  9. Sounds good, thank you
  10. What sort of info?

  12. Many of us could use a diversion from the anguish of waiting for interviews/results. The NYT Education blog reports that Dartmouth plans to stop giving credit for AP scores, citing that 90% of students who ace the AP Psych exam subsequently fail the college's own placement test. What was your experience with AP Psych? How do people feel about this new policy? Should more colleges adopt it?
  13. Other side of the thread on "interview questions you may encounter"...what should you ask your interviewers, aside from where recent graduates have found employment?
  14. Can I expect or ask for reimbursement of the roundtrip taxi fare between my home campus and home airport? Sorry if this question has been asked - search results came up empty.
  15. ^ Okay, I'll take the bait. Notwithstanding that rankings are only one component of how we choose schools...ND may not be an elite program but not everyone is an elite applicant. Consider also the importance of "fit" in research interests between students and faculty. And in USNWR's ranking of "national universities" - the de facto "overall" rankings - ND is #17. Make no mistake, ND overall is a respected research university. No student will be ashamed to say they're a Fighting Irish. Unless they're playing football.
  16. Quantitative Methods...got the email at exactly 2 p.m. Eastern. I doubt all the emails are sent simultaneously, but the February 1-3 schedule seems to apply to every program. Fingers crossed, everyone!
  17. Check your emails! For PhD applicants, interview weekend is February 1-3.
  18. I would ask. It's not like your POI is personally footing the bill. Among my three invitations so far, two have covered air/hotel and one hasn't indicated explicitly but I hope not to pay out of pocket.
  19. I would think how early or late you receive an invitation is irrelevant to your chances of admission. Those who get the earliest invitations may have submitted their app way before the deadline. FWIW, UNC's clinical area says that invitations will go out on January 25 for an interview day on February 8.
  20. ^ Interesting. Everywhere I've heard from appears in the consolidated interview thread. Any input on dress?
  21. How do people feel about interview dress codes? Full fledged suits appear to be the norm in clinical, but we can get away with something more casual, right? I'm thinking about just taking cues from typical professors - dress shirt, but no tie or jacket. Yet I've heard we should appear dressier than our interviewers. Also, do we get phone/Skype interviews? Thus far I've received only email invitations to on-site interviews. No phone calls.
  22. I couldn't imagine otherwise. Congrats!
  23. Indeed. See bullet point #2 at http://clinicalpsych.unc.edu/graduate-program/application-process I think this schedule applies only to clinical program applicants.
  24. Nice to see it worked well for you, DarwinAG. Given that I had 11 applications, I just figured my time was better spent on polishing each SOP and focusing on coursework and research. Certainly if you and your POI are both attending SPSP it would be worthwhile to suggest meeting there. By the way, I'm jealous you're going. I can only dream of it.
