I second this, I lived in Schenectady which is next to Troy for 4 years and Troy was a lot nicer, in general the capital region has a lot going on, great food (Im international and have lived everywhere) so Im picky, The whole area next to the Hudson is very cute, the people are friendly enough, and there are great places to hike around the area, also there are, malls, museums, etc close enough, fun fact about it the capital region has the highest per capita Phd rate in the country!!!!!

Oh yeah the issue in Europe is they hardly see the big picture, only care for academics, Edinburgh asks for 3.3....Barcelona might be more understanding
-
Thanks, should have never thought someone who can´t even spell the word "public" and who seems to think the Mpaff was an MPP as authentic! Sorry
-
1-IHEID 2. Science Po 3. Edinburgh 4- AGS 5-UA 6- VU (never heard of it to be honest) I would also look at Erasmus Mundus programs and Barcelona
-

Hey I seem to have created a rumour about last names, I know for a fact some schools system orders you by last name, thus first ones receive a decission first. No idea if this is the case in GU though and with Alf1008 it doesn's seem likely, even though he is from Costa Rica and US computers don't handle the whole double last name Latin American thing very well so who knows. I think we cannot really believe anything, it can be that those ofus admitted are good enough to get in but need additional info for scholarship and those who havent are so good you don't need that. Or it might be internationals first (some of our cases) and very very competitive Americans and then everyone else, or they might just have gradcafe stalked us and liked our profiles hehehe. My point is as we do not really know it is best to just wait and hope for the best. Good luck and yikes about the whole "less than a week to write a SOP thing"

Same here...it appears to be the same as last year´s, one page essay on fit.

At SPEA I will pursue the MPA, argh this is so confusing!!!!! Thanks for your advice though
-
Yeah has anyone been asked for a scholarship email like last yr? I love GPPI but 65k I cant afford
-
So have only found out about this two. But can´t decide, the issues are I love environmental policy and SPEA is stronger plus their website is a bit more complete, but then again location wise DC is DC. Funding also matters as one costs about 25k more than the other. But then again GU is much better known as a univeristy even if it is ranked lower. Advice?

I found out today as well, I submitted it on january 15th and it was all complete by then. For what is worth I am international and my last name starts with the first 10 letters of the alphabet!

Masters in Public Policy advise/opinion needed.

Work experience doesnt mean US, go back to you home country, do an internship or even better find a relevant job, thats what I did, it will also teach you a lot about what you really want to do with an MPP. -
How important is prestige for a MPP program, really?
MPPgal replied to spacezeppelin's topic in Government Affairs Forum
Why not apply to programs that are both prestigious and are not super expensive, Michigan's Ford, Indiana's SPEA, Austin's LBJ, Wisconsin, Washington's, etc -
I wonder what the difference is as a lot of the programs seem very similar. LBJ´s MPAff, is very much alike SPEA´s MPA and Ford´s MPP. Even when comparing Ivy´s HKS´s MPP is more similar to WW's MPA while Harvard´s MPA is closer to WW´s MPP. I knwo taht in theory MPP´s are more academic and have a higher quant background and MPA´s are more professional and more managment based but in practice are they very different? Or is it just a name thing and it depends on each program? Any help will be gladly appreciated.

I saw this in one of the programs I applied to (agricultural economics) and wanted to know what it means.
