  1. If no one would mind, when exactly is the open house? As another wait lister I'm curious when more news might come.
  2. Does anyone know what's going on with Penn State? I haven't heard anything from them and I've seen a couple rejections posted, but I know historically they can leave people on the hook through April. Thoughts?
  3. It's not a silly question! I would say to hold off except for that housing offer. Have they put you in touch with any grad students you could ask about protocol? I don't think it would be terrible to phrase it as I want to accept to move the process along but I also need to visit to be 100% certain and can't afford to do so on my own. Not a situation I've encountered so that might not be helpful, but let us know how it goes. Good luck! (And congrats on being close to a decision!)
  4. Congrats TOC and postwar! What fantastic programs!
  5. Thanks guys! I am in Canada presently (yay!), and just realized this is totally the wrong thread for WLs. Sorry about that!
  6. After contacting the DGS, found out I'm waitlisted at Lehigh (very small WL; only two). The good news is they only make funded offers, so if you move off the waitlist funding is guaranteed.
  7. A good problem for sure, I vote for USC (cough Halberstam cough)
  8. This is really helpful, thank you! And don't worry, you're not striking a devastating blow or anything.
  9. I'm there with you, TOC. Same number even!
  10. I have to echo NowMoreSerious' statement. I hope it went well! If it makes you feel any better, I ended up super nauseous during the dinner with grad students at my visit last week. Everyone there was super nice and understanding though. I'm sure your department will be the same way as long as you're forthright. ETA: And I hope you're feeling better!
  11. Apparently lulls are pretty common. I just went literally two weeks between official notifications!
  12. Officially out at Utah...
  13. Oh good! I'm not the only one! I saw a WL posted on the results board, but I haven't seen anything else. One of the professors with whom I had the most contact throughout the process was at Lehigh, so if I don't hear anything by next week I'm going to e-mail them. I'm leaving for Canada tomorrow, so I may not be quick with updates, but I'll try to post news if anything truly noteworthy happens while I'm away.
  14. I third that sentiment. How do I have so much news left to hear in March?!
  15. Caroline: I honestly don't think that rank matters when schools are that close. Do you know about placement rates for both?
  16. Historically, it looks like calls go out over the course of a week or so. Personally, I am counting less and less on UF with every acceptance I see posted, but I tend to be a pessimist when it comes to grad school admissions (and Florida was/is one of my top choices, which only heightens this). I e-mailed the department secretary to ask when decisions would come out because I have a March 13 response deadline, but I haven't heard anything. If I get a response, though, I'll post it.
  17. Congrats faux and allplaid! Getting off the waitlist at such an awesome program is especially exciting (and it gives us other waitlisters hope)! Thanks much for this; it really is troublesome (and honestly making me rethink the program). The schools I've reached out to have been fantastic about it though, with one DGS even offering to reach out to the program and make them aware of the April 15 compact. Also, I got a weird email that indicates I'm on a quasi UMD waitlist. It's very unofficial/unlikely to pan out, so I'm not going to post it on the results board, but I figured I'd share since I'm altering my signature and was posting in this forum anyway.
  18. Thanks!!!! And thanks for the smile link; I use smile wherever I remember to, which, unfortunately, isn't every time I make a purchase on Amazon.
  19. Thanks, Caroline! Discounting implied/actual rejections, Mississippi is definitely up there on my list. My personal "first tier" programs are primarily those I have yet to hear from, but I sent out e-mails to most of the schools today (given that I have the looming March 13 deadline for one of my offers) so hopefully those will all shake out soon enough.
  20. Out at Oregon (response to an e-mail to inquire about app status). If anyone else who applied hasn't heard, keep an eye on your mailboxes.
  21. I too have a personalized ex libris stamp I ordered from etsy. It has my name and an image of one of my tattoos. I love it, but my ink is somewhat difficult to work with. If anyone has a recommendation for stamp ink that transfers well I'm all ears!
  22. I'm not sure if anyone else is waiting for Kentucky, but in case you are, I spoke with the admissions office today and they said the second round of acceptances should be coming out "soon."
  23. Second on the WL at Mississippi. Good news from my perspective, but it would be great to have something solid before I need to notify the other school with the early deadline!
  24. A huge congratulations Monica! And thanks very much for the information.
