Just got my rejection (unofficial, I think) from Ryerson. Little bummed out. POI basically said that the committee did not recommend me as one of the top applicants. For students who have gotten in this year or previous years, could you share a bit of your application background, like publications, research and clinical experience and whatever else that you think may have made your application strong. Just baffled as to what else I need to do... Thought I pulled all the stops this time. Appreciate it. Thanks

Oh I only see one interview invite and rest of the invites to open house were for clinical developmental. If both clinical and clinical developmental have the same open house, I guess I can cross York off. :/

Oh invites have gone out already? Hmm guess I can rule out York then.

Does anyone know how the process works at York if both of my POIs are not actually taking any students.. Do I get rejected or do other profs get to look at my application?

Also, people who applied to York Clinical psych did you email your POIs beforehand? Swear I've emailed so many profs and none of them are taking students at York. I don't mind sharing - jane Irvine, Walter Heinrich's, Joel Goldberg, Norman park, Shauna rosenbaum, Gary turner. WHO was I supposed to apply to.. I ended up applying to Jane Irvine and Paul ritvo (in the kinesiology dept but takes clinical students sometimes. Not sure if this year, but I know him from my job at Cancer Care Ontario). Geez York.. Way to waste my money.

Interesting how there were 13 offers when about 15 students between the two streams get in every year.

If the Ryerson acceptance could share their POI, that would be great. I'm assuming all the acceptances for Ryerson probably went out for this round then., ?

Definitely. I wish she would've been a little more specific about when the committee is meeting and so on, but I guess it's a complicated process and that's a lot of information to give out since it's different for different POI's? Either way, you're welcome. Good luck!

For Ryerson hopefuls holding their breath, this is what I got from Lisa today: "The admissions committee will review names put forward by faculty members and will make a decision. I’m not sure when all applicants will hear back. We have sent out a few offers already but this process can go into as far as April until we hear back responses from applicants which determines if we need to send out more offers." Good luck guys.

Oh. That's kind of good news, in that Im not too worried about not having a DCT interview then. When did you interview/ start the program Toastytoast? I don't think everyone will have a clinical suitability interview prior to offers... I hope this is right. This might also be what is keeping offers from going out. Hopefully it is done soon and offer go out next week!

Does anyone know about the clinical suitability interviews at Ryerson? Apparently someone got an email for one but my POI said nothing about it during my interview.. Do all students go through it to get an offer or only ones without much clinical experience.. ?

A few of us are waiting, holding our breaths. Have you interviewed too? My POI told me 10 days from the time of my interview which was on the 21st.

Although there's always chances that their offers get turned down, in which case they move to the next short list. It may not be completely over but the chances would be low after the first round of offers go out. Sorry.
