  1. Thanks but I do realize that. And I also realize that the deadline is Jan 4, right after the winter break so they would either have to do it before or during the break. It's just stressful from my end not knowing if she is still able to or willing. Doesn't take too much to just send one line saying yes, I remember and will be able to still do it. I don't want to ruin her holiday and know she deserves the time off. I'd like to spend my holiday relaxing and knowing it will get done in time as well. Thanks for your input though
  2. My thesis supervisor refuses to let me know what is happening or if she can still be my reference. The deadline is this Monday and I have emailed her, texted her and called her (rings just once and then goes to voicemail). For my CIHR, she sent it in the day of... Super frustrating and I want to make it known to her but I know I shouldn't.. I don't have anyone else to ask so I am really hoping she sends it in soon. But really, all I am asking for is one line to let me know what's up. So unprofessional and messing with my (sanity and) future. Blargh
  3. Look into Adler Graduate school in Toronto. Im just graduating from it with MPsy Counselling Psych. You can practice as a counsellor after. Very clinically oriented, not alot of emphasis on research.
  4. Does this sentence make sense? Some of these studies are now in the stage of manuscript preparation, which I look forward to sharing with the scientific community upon publication. If not, could you suggest an alternative one line that could say this in one sentence. It's getting to that point where my brain is mush and I don't know anymore lol
  5. I can't give you any for sure answers but the one friend who completed the program has had some trouble finding work but a lot of people in her cohort have found work. So it's hard to generalize. I also know some PhD's who are having a tough time. So it's usually hit or miss. I think what works best is networking, no matter the degree
  6. Yes, usually it's either the last one year or two. if they have said last one year, then that's right. And like Applicant #1000 said, higher the GPA, the better (but that's a given)
  7. Would anyone be willing to take a look at my clinical psych PhD LOI? I would be happy to return the favor.
  8. Would anyone be willing to take a look at my LOI? I am willing to return the favor!
  9. Yeah same. But I saw on the results page for last year that people were hearing back from utsc in Dec and Jan 6.. So I feel like I could be surprised
  10. I'm starting this thread for Canadian applicants coz everytime I see a new notification for the fall 2016 group, my heart skips a beat until I realize that's for American applicants I'm eagerly waiting on utsc and ryerson right now. UWO to follow!
  11. I am not sure It's nerve wrecking though!
  12. They are probably so backed up and reply slow at this time so I thought I'd start here. I've looked on their page and see I am right, but still nervous so I am wondering if anyone has any insight before I contact them.
  13. Before I completely freak out and lose my mind- the deadline for UTSC Clinical Psych was Dec 15 but supporting documentation deadline is Jan 4 right?? I see results on the results page here about how people were contacted in December and Jan 6????? Someone please tell me I'm right...
  14. Wow the states sends out their invited early eh
  15. Haha and I'm applying to 3 (maybe even 2) programs.. Oh boy..
  16. Anyone applying to UWO? Their gpa cut off is lower and acceptance rate seems slightly higher than uoft and such (because of less people applying perhaps). Less competitive school in some way?
  17. I feel you. That was my first stage before I came to genuinely see that there is more to life that losing sleep and sanity over this. Things eventually work out, one way or another :)
  18. We are in nearly identical boats! Even though the research I am doing right now is not in the field I ultimately want to be in, I cant be bothered to care right now. One step at a time. It's "just" a degree in the end (I say this with caution- I know this degree means a lot in some ways, but I'm just saying that it isn't the end of the world )
  19. Anyone else a bit apathetic towards applications this year... ? lol I've done my best and put in some of the applications. I have a decent job in research and put in so much effort and worry/stress last year, that I think I've come to terms with the fact that I have absolutely NO control beyond putting in my application and best effort in other ways. Feels weird to not care/worry as much though.. Hopefully I am not the only one :)
  20. Can I ask what your current institution is? Just wondering where it is that the potential faculty's opinion matters most.
  21. Hey! Thought it'd be better this way :)

Im doing my Master's in canada. But it's an MPsy counselling psych- but that also means I have a lot of course and clinical work and I did a good amount of research work on the side as well. So I am hoping this works out in my favor and turns out to be enough for PhD level.

    I'm applying to Gary Remington

  22. Hey! I'm applying at the PhD level but open to MA and transition as well. I will be completing my masters by sept 2016 so I'm really hoping to not have to do any MA level work! Who are you applying to at UTSC if you dont mind me asking How's the process going? I may or may not end up applying at Western. Just not fully ready to move.
  23. Im applying to Clinical Psych at UTSC, Ryerson and maybe Western. Im looking for people to help with SOI's and I can help with theirs too Relatively calm this time because I've had enough of stressing about something that isn't really in my control lol
  24. First time only to uoft when I had NO clue what I was doing. Last time was a good effort and got one interview. This will be third time then..
  25. I'm kind of struggling with the same thing. Not that I wouldn't have a problem talking about my clinical interest but I'm wondering how much they care about it for phd level clinical psych programs. I'm struggling with explaining my research interests and experiences AND clinical interests and still keeping within some very strict word limits
